RUFUS R. MCCLURE ENGLISH AWARD — During his career at Bolles, beginning in 1951, Mr. McClure has served as chair of the English Department; taught Advanced Placement English, administering the very first AP examination at Bolles; and held the positions of Upper School Head/Academic Dean. CARNES II PHOENIX SOCIETY AWARD — Established in 1967 by then faculty member Arthur Carnes, The Phoenix Society’s mission is to recognize the achievements of Bolles’ students in the Fine and Performing Arts. The Phoenix Society Award is presented to one senior from this select fellowship who excels in several areas of the arts, demonstrates a commitment to the demands of artistic vision, a delight in the process of creative discovery and a gratefulness and humility in the face of achievement. MARK M. BRADLEY AWARD — Established to honor Mr. Bradley who came to Bolles in 1941 as Commandant of Cadets and served the School until his death in 1955. Mr. Bradley served as head football, basketball, and baseball coach during his career, as well as Athletic Director. In 1998, Mr. Garces was honored by his three children with the presentation of the O.S. Garces Diving Facility. ELLIS LANQUIST SCHOOL SPIRIT AWARDS — Given in honor and memory of Mr. Ellis Lanquist, who taught Biology at Bolles from 1953 until his retirement in 1996. Mr. Lanquist also served as Head of the Science Department and as Director of the Bolles Summer Day Camp during his distinguished years at Bolles. This award is presented to the student who has done the most to promote school spirit at Bolles. CITIZENSHIP AWARDSRUFUS MCCLURE HONOR SYSTEM AWARD — Mr. McClure was a faculty member, Academic Dean and leader of many aspects of Bolles life from 1951 to present. He co-founded the Honor Court with then Head of School, Harry M. deMontmollin, Jr. Mr. McClure sponsored the Honor Court for many years and dedicated his teaching and administrative career toward instilling in students a respect for honesty in dealing with others in the Bolles Community and the many people with whom they come in contact on a daily basis. LAWRENCE M. HIRSIG AWARD — Established to honor Lawrence M. Hirsig, trustee of Bolles from 1944 through 1951 and founder of the Bolles Dads’ Association. This award is presented annually to the student who has made the most significant contribution to student government. Kuber Madhok

JAY STEIN CARING AWARD — Established to honor Mr. Jay Stein by Hugh H. Jones, Jr. to reflect Mr. Stein’s interest in the community, this award is presented to the senior who has best exemplified a caring attitude by selfless effort toward a better quality of life for all. Rachel Schwam

THE FORT SAN NICHOLAS CHAPTER OF THE DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION — present their annual award to a senior who demonstrates the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. Hana Hajda

THE MCKENZIE NOELLE WILSON AWARD (FORMERLY THE DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD) — Established to support programs that foster community service and caring for others. McKenzie Wilson’13, who passed away in 2010, was a Bolles sophomore who went out of her way to make others feel special. The award is presented to seniors dedicated to their school and community, reflecting McKenzie’s concern for others and her spirit of service. Each year, the McKenzie Noelle Wilson Foundation will make a $7,000 donation to Bolles to support an area or program of the school selected by the honorees.
