What/Who does the Store Profit?

• Money made in the school store goes back into the improvement & purchase of:

– The School Store and it’s merchandise• Buying New Products, Restocking Current Products

– The Physical Education Department• Purchasing New Equipment, Hiring Guest Speakers

• We go through all the steps of marketing the store and its merchandise

School Store Procedures

• Opening the store:– Count the money box before you open the store. (starting amount $50)

– Open the school store by 10:30am for “A Lunch” workers.

• Record every item you sell immediately in the purchase binder. (Pay attention to details!!!)

• Checks are made payable to: Upper Dublin High School Fund (UDHS Fund)

• Use the calculator for all transactions you are unsure of. DO NOT rely on your mental math!!!

• Notice inventory #’s. Let Mrs. Sundling know if we are low.

School Store Procedures

• Closing the store: – Close the store around 5mins before Lunch ends.– Count the money box carefully.– Fill out “Reconciliation” sheet with money totals.

• Lock the window gate with round copper key. Lock door when leaving. (Double Check Locks)

• Return money box, store binder and key to Mrs. Sundling immediately.

General Rules

• Only the people scheduled to work that day should be in the store at any time.

• No Guests (including fellow marketing students) • No Loitering (do not let your friends hang out

at window and block people from our counter)• Keep the store neat & CLEAN UP when you

leave. Everything should be where you found it• Keep the money in a safe and secure location

away from the window to prevent theft

General Rules

• Record all sales immediately so you don’t forget anything and put money directly in the lockbox

• Use a calculator when needed• Watch for shoplifting / theft• Record any minor issues in the binder and tell

Mrs. Sundling in class when you return• Report all major problems immediately. (Faculty

Dining Room has a phone. Knock and ask someone to call: Classroom – ext. 2165)

General "DO NOT" Rules

• DO NOT leave school store unattended at any time• DO NOT leave the school store unlocked at any time• DO NOT use the merchandise (such as pens, pencils)• DO NOT play with the merchandise• DO NOT steal any merchandise• DO NOT lend your friends merchandise or store money• DO NOT vandalize the store or the merchandise• DO NOT sit on the counters or the window ledge• DO NOT use your cell phones or iPods

FOLLOW ALL SCHOOL RULES WHILE IN THE STORE

Demonstrate Good Customer Service

• Be professional (courteous & polite) with everyone (even non-customers)

• Know and promote the current advertisements• Display the products where they cannot be stolen• Demonstrate or model the merchandise if requested• Count change back to the customer• If you cannot answer someone's question, ask for

their name and contact information so you can find out the answer and get back to them.

Eating Lunch in Store

• Bagged lunches are preferred on days in which you are scheduled to work.

• Clean up after yourself.

• Throw trash away in the cafeteria trash cans (not in the school store trash can)

• Do not eat any merchandise… UNTIL you have paid for it!

Reasons for Dismissal(Grade Reduction)

• If there is suspicion of theft or other foul play by you or others on your shift.

• If merchandise is being given away to anyone.• If money is missing from the lockbox.• If your Marketing grade has deteriorated.• If the standards of contract are not being met.

You will not be assigned to the school store and your grade will reflect your dismissal.
