Pieces selected span the 18th – 20th century and in some cases the insides are as beautiful as the outsides. A hot spot in Harlem in the 1920's and 30's was the Cotton Club, the citadel of the New York jazz scene; its stage filled with the greatest musical and theatrical talent this country has ever produced like Lena Horne, Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway, Bill “Bojangles” Robinson. But the club also embodied American racism, with a “whites-only” admittance policy that sent its performers to the kitchen for supper. Join us as we document this chapter in the history of American entertainment, hosted by Bill Rudman and Paul Ferguson.

Seymour is a nerdy floral clerk with a knack for plants, but not much else. One peculiar plant he’s tending might just be his ticket to fame, fortune – and the girl of his dreams. There’s only one teeny – but “growing” – problem.” This plant has an unquenchable thirst for the red stuff (type O.A. or B…it’s not picky). Mixing Motown, B-movies, and The American Dream, Little Shop of Horrors is the screamingly funny, gleefully twisted, out-of-this-world hit musical.

WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS Tuesday, November 10

In August 2002, seventy five women wearing red hats and purple outfits tossed balloons in the air outside the community center to commemorate the creation of the Red Hattitudes. During the past 13 years we have been a very warm, friendly group of women who have enjoyed each other’s company at many events and formed lasting friendships along the way. Now, as happens over time, and with the retirement of our reigning queen mum, we find ourselves with the need to restructure our chapter. In order to do that, we call upon YOU, our sisters, for your most needed input and support so that the Red Hattitudes can continue and succeed. Please join our meeting.
