the PRESIDENTS RAMBLINGS
Greetings All, Meeting Notes: Last week the Board of Directors meeting was held at the Poland Spring Library. The first item of discussion was the repair of the trailer. It was agreed that we would expend the funds to fix it. This will happen once the snow retreats enough to get to the trailer and remove the axle for accurate measurement so a suitable replacement can be ordered. The second item of discussion was what to do with the trailer once it was repaired. Many options were given, but the one that was greeted most favorably was hauling it to Augusta for a show. At this time we have a tentative show date of Saturday, 23 September. I am currently waiting on the rental agreement from the Buker Community Center to finalize that date. We currently have some of the committee spots filled, but I will be reaching out for more. Please say yes. The General Membership Meeting will be held at 1Pm on Sunday, 26 March at the Great Wall in Augusta. At this meeting the new officers will be seated. Usually the March meeting is held in conjunction with the Sportsman Show, However we have a schedule conflict with the upcoming Wayne Robbins Carving Seminar and some of our old and new officers are attending. (There are still a couple of openings at the Seminar, sign up soon, it's sure to be a whale of a good time ). I am still looking for more photos and member profiles for the website. I would like to have a wide variety of carving styles and types, so that the public can see what wood carving can be, and perhaps attend a meeting. Don't be shy, send in some photos of your work for all to see. Stay tuned for more show updates and info. As soon as I have the confirmed rental agreement I will start posting info on the website. MWCA CHAPTER REPORTS ON THE BORDER CARVERS
On the Border Carvers Submitted by Dee Cote
Hi all from On The Border Carvers I have had a few new carvers in my classes all beginners so hopefully we can get them to join the Maine Carvers. Several are working on the small loons donated to us by Cathy Webster when we were in Augusta. I will try to send pictures next month as the finish. Charlie a marine vet is working on his own cane. Jack is making a group of small trucks for a grand son. Carolyn is burning a picture of three wolves The new carvers are also working on their fruit carvings which I require for their second project to get use to the tools. As for Aroostook County we have had enough snow for this year. Even the coast has enough. Spring should be here soon but March can be a long month. Hang in there. Dee Cote
