Introduction
This document describes the upgrade procedure and steps required for Cisco TelePresenceServer (TS) upgrade to 4.3(1.13)
Prerequisites
Requirements
There are no specific requirements for this document.
Components Used
The information in this document is based on these software and hardware versions:
TelePresence Server on Virtual Machine 4.2 and earlier●
Background Information
Due to platform operating system changes introduced in version 4.3 you cannot directly upgradefrom OR downgrade to 4.2 and earlier versions from 4.3 and later.
To upgrade 4.3, the Cisco TelePresence Server on Virtual Machine needs to be redeployed usingthe .ova file. Using the upgrade redeployment tool ensures serial numbers are preserved, and thusall the keys (activation, encryption, screen licenses) are carried across to the new deployment.
Once you have deployed a 4.3 Cisco TelePresence Server on Virtual Machine, you cannotdowngrade to 4.2 or earlier. If you have kept the old 4.2 Cisco TelePresence Server on VirtualMachine VM, you can power that on (assuming you power down the 4.3 Cisco TelePresenceServer on Virtual Machine VM) at any time and resume using it.
Caution: You will need to get new activation and license keys if you redeploy without usingthe upgrade redeployment tool.
Upgrade TASKs
Task 1. Ensure all prerequisites are met.
Task 2. Download and install the vts-redeploy-n.n.tar.gz package.
Task 3. Prepare configuration and/or batch files as necessary.
Task 4. Run the redeploy_vts command.
Task 5. Verify that your new Cisco TelePresence Server on Virtual Machine(s) are up and running.
Task 1. Upgrade prerequisites
Python●
VMware OVF TOOL●
Cisco TelePresence Server on Virtual Machine OVA●
Upgrade redeployment tool python package (.tar.gz file)●
Back Up Your Configuration●
Steps to install Python
The redeployment tool is distributed as a python package (in a .tar.gz file), and needs to beinstalled (using pip) before it can be used.
Navigate to https://www.python.org/downloads/. The required version must be at least version2.7.9, and below version 3.
Select Python 2.7.11, as shown in this image.
Download 32 bit or 64 bit installer based on your computer windows
Run the Installer
Select Add Python.exe to Path
Finish the installation
pip is already installed if you're using Python 2 >=2.7.9 or Python 3 >=3.4 downloaded frompython.org
Steps to install VMware OVF TOOL
If you need to install, navigate to: https://www.vmware.com/support/developer/ovf/. The requiredversion must be at least version 4.1.0.
You may need to Sign up to VMware to get the download access (Sign up usually free)

Copy the configuration from Old VM to NEW VM●
Task 5. Verify that Your New Cisco TelePresence Server on Virtual Machine(s) are Up and
Running.
Once the script has completed its operation, verify that your new Cisco TelePresence Server onVirtual Machine(s) are up and running as expected.
