From the Principal’s Desk ~ Mr. Slaikeu
Season’s Greetings!
I hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving break! I thought it was just the right amount of time away to refresh and spend time with family and friends. I hope you had a similar experience.
Our Jingle and Mingle is tomorrow night, and we’re looking forward to kicking the holiday season off with a wonderful evening of live music, adult beverages and refreshments, and laughs! It will be great to socialize with those of you I only get to see once and a while. If you haven’t RSVPd yet, email [email protected], or feel free to drop in tomorrow night.
Saturday is our 7th Annual Barnes and Noble Book Fair! We would love to see you all there, but if you can’t make it, remember that you can order online or go to any Barnes & Noble store and give them our Book Fair ID (# 12062170), and we’ll get up to 25% of purchases. Last year, the Book Fair raised over $4,500 for our school library, so spread the word to your friends and family!
Sunday is Saint Rose Youth Ministry’s Pancake Breakfast with Saint Nicholas! Come enjoy a delicious breakfast and enjoy roving Christmas carolers while your children shop in Saint Nick’s Secret Workshop and write letters to Saint Nick. This is a fun, family event that brings the Saint Rose community together in the holiday spirit!
Trimester I ended today and we start fresh with a new trimester on Monday. We are officially one full year into using Sycamore Education as our main grading information system, and I hope you’re finding it beneficial. Although different grade levels use the grading features differently, Grades 3 through 8 parents should be able to check online to see how your children are doing. If you can’t locate your log in information, please contact the office. The goal is that there are no major surprises when you receive your children’s report cards, either because the teachers have been in communication with you and/or you are able to log into Sycamore and monitor your children’s progress. Teachers are expected to update their online grades bi-weekly; however, many of our teachers are updating weekly or even daily, depending on the work they are doing in the classrooms. This is just one tool for you to keep up with what is happening at school. If you have any questions about grades or student progress, please don’t hesitate to contact the teachers or me.
I hope to see you at one of the wonderful weekend events!
Peace,
Mr. Slaikeu
The mission of Saint Rose of Lima Catholic School is to provide a quality academic education, religious education, and faith formation for our students. It is our goal to prepare our children as

SAINT ROSE HOME & SCHOOL CHRISTMAS BAKE SALE
Our Annual Christmas Bake Sale will be held the weekend of December 9 and 10 after all masses
at Saint Rose!
Get your family together to share some precious pre-holiday baking time as
you support Saint Rose. Be as decorative and creative as possible; the more
attractive our treats are, the jollier our trays will be!
Please bring your baked goods to the Parish Community Room in the Church (the door between
church and school) on Saturday, December 9th, between 9 AM and 12:00 PM. If you need to
make other arrangements for drop-off times, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Join us as we assemble and wrap trays on Saturday morning and/or
help us sell the goodies after the Masses on Saturday evening and
Sunday morning. This is an easy and fun way to involve yourself in our
wonderful community. The mood is festive and fun during the wrapping and pricing sessions,
and selling after masses is a fun way to meet other parishioners and school parents! Your
generosity of time and effort make our bake sale a continued success for Saint Rose School. We
realize that families have busy schedules, and we are grateful for whatever you are able to
contribute. THANK YOU!!
Please complete and return the bottom portion of this flyer to school by Wednesday,
December 6, 2017. If you have any questions, please contact Karen Wheaton at
651-488-0594 or [email protected].
