Week in review This week we have learned and discovered lots of neat facts about spiders and bats! Throughout the week we read non-fiction books about spiders and bats and were able to brainstorm lots of things we now know about each animal. These facts are on display in the hallway with the creepy spider and bat crafts everyone had a chance to make. We continued to review describing words and were introduced to movement words by writing a poem about spiders that included adjectives and verbs. The students learned all about nocturnal animals and how they’re different from other animals. We learned the difference between facts and opinions and did a batty sort. At the end of the week we were able to provide similarities and differences between spiders and bats and filled out a Venn diagram to compare and contrast the two. In Math we continue to work on subtraction. In Phonics, we practiced the two sounds of ou and ow, as well as making words in the –ig family Upcoming events October 30 th Conferences October 31 st Halloween Harvest Parties November 1 st Bus Safety November 6 th Picture Retakes November 7 th Early Dismissal Nevin Coppock 1 st Grade The Trail to New Adventures Notes from the Teacher Final night of conferences is Tuesday, October 30 th from 4:00-7:00.
