Keyboarding
TIS uses an online Keyboarding Program which gives students the ability to log
onto the site and work on their keyboarding lessons as well as participate in all of the
keyboarding activities from any computer that has access to the internet in school and
at home.
To Log into the Keyboarding Program: Log on information can also be found on the backside of the last page in the
student's agenda (or on the inside front cover of the binder for Mrs. Kogut's students).
www.typingtraining.com Click on Member login – upper right hand corner.
Type a lower case t followed by the student's 5 digit school number (ex. t10101)
Type password (first letter capital), followed by 2 digits (ex. Random29)
Click on Login
Overview Working on the online program at home will enable students to further their
proficiency in proficiency.
It is very important for students to use the Home Row
Method demonstrated in the program as they learn where the
letters on the keyboard are and not look keyboard while
they type. Students can click on the "Basics" link in the
program which is located at the top of their screen if they need
a refresher on the Touch Typing Technique.
Once the students have mastered where the keys on the keyboard are, speed
building will come
naturally as they will only be focusing on the screen to type and not have to look back
and forth between the keyboard and their work. This will carry over to their school
work when Essays and Reports are assigned as the students will become
very proficient typists that can quickly and efficiently complete their tasks.
Have problems logging in at home or stuck on an assignment? Email
Dear Parents and Students, Tolland Public Schools has decided to provide email addresses to all students in grades 3-12. Many educational resources are available online, much of which require students to use an email account that is associated with their school district. Some of these include Office365, Google Docs, Google Classroom, Prezi, Diigo, and more! We are also hoping that these accounts will allow us to facilitate additional communication in a classroom setting. These accounts will be hosted by Google, and can be accessed from anywhere in the world by going to: http://mail.tolland.k12.ct.us The student email address will be: [email protected] For example: Jane Smith, whose student ID is 11111, her email address would be: [email protected] During their technology integration class, beginning the week of October 27th, students will be taught how to use their email and the proper etiquette and safety concerning digital communications. Students will be limited in their ability to email, only having permissions to email their teachers for educational purposes. As time progresses and as students gain the knowledge and demonstrate the appropriate technological and behavioral skills, they may be permitted to email other students in their class. Students will not have the ability to send or receive emails from non-tolland.k12.ct.us addresses. While students may send emails to their teachers at night, teachers are under no obligation to respond outside of school hours. All student email accounts will be archived and their use falls under the same use policies as other district-owned technology. If you wish to opt out, please fill out and return the form below, by October 24th and your child’s account will be inactivated. We’re looking forward to all of the educational opportunities these accounts will provide. Please contact me if you have any questions. Thanks you, James Dineen Principal Tolland Intermediate School
Complete and return this section ONLY if you want to opt out of this program. [ ] NO, I want this account disabled so my child cannot use it. Hello to all students, parents and staff! My name is Rose Hierl and I am the new RN here at TIS! I am happy to be working collaboratively with Laurie Clarke, the awesome LPN who is my co-partner here in the nurse’s office! I have a tough act to follow in the footsteps of Stephanie Lentocha , but I wish her the very best!! I am familiar with many of students here, as I have subbed at TIS many times both for Laurie and Steph! I am really looking forward to helping you with anything needed to assist our students in ensuring that they have a healthy productive life here at TIS! I, myself, am a mother of 5 school aged children and know the pressures of life both at school and at home. Please know my door is open here for anyone that needs help whether in person, by telephone or by e-mail. I will do my very best to aid in any way necessary! Thank you for your time! Please reach me at 860-870-6891, [email protected] or just pop in to the office at TIS during school hours I look forward to my time here at TIS! Sincerely, Rose Hierl RN
Welcome back Mrs. Silberberg!
We are thrilled to welcome Mrs. Melissa Silberberg to the Tolland Intermediate School
faculty. Mrs. Silberberg was hired to replace third grade teacher Susan Shearer. A job
transfer, forced the Shearer family to relocate to North Carolina. Mrs. Silberberg taught
at Parker School from 1998 – 2006. She left her position at Parker in order to raise her
three children. In her brief tenure at Parker School, Melissa became a highly respected
member of the faculty.
