THANKS, EVELYN!
For the past five years and three months, Evelyn Wells has served as our Christian Education and Program Director. On March 28, 2016 Evelyn sent a letter to the Staff Parish Relations Committee informing them that she planned to retire effective June 1, 2016. Evelyn has served us faithfully as she has had the opportunity to serve Christ alone with us. We appreciate her service to St. Paul UMC and we pray God’s blessings on her as she enters a new phase of life. Evelyn will now share some thoughts with us. My decision to retire as Christian Education and Program Director has not been an easy one, and I have been in prayer about if for nearly a year. I love St. Paul UMC and have enjoyed being on staff for the last five years; I’ve
thoroughly enjoyed my time leading both the children and adult ministries. However, I wish to have more time to spend with my grandson, Mason, and to do some traveling and short-term missions, as well as to be more active as a Certified Lay Servant. I will primarily attend my home church, Ebenezer UMC in Jefferson, where my family attends and are members. I wish to thank each one of you for what you have meant to me and the outstanding encouragement I have re-ceived from you. St. Paul UMC is a wonderful church, and I am blessed to have been a part of it. The friends I have made here will remain a integral part of my life.

CHILDREN’S NEWS
St. Paul UMC is excited about our
ministry to children! We have volunteer
opportunities available for the month of
June and August. Please contact me at 706-
215-7107, or call the Church office, if you
would like an opportunity to minister to our kids as they grow in faith.
Marianne Cagle will lead the May Children’s Church for 8:45 a.m., and
Charlotte Crow will lead the 11:00 a.m. Children’s Church. Thanks to all
our faithful volunteers.
Children’s Day is scheduled for Sunday, May 1. The children’s
choir will sing, and Bibles for those in 3rd Grade will be presented. Please
join us for this special Sunday.
There will be a Children’s Ministry Team meeting the evening of
May 18 in the Conference Room. This will be a planning meeting for our
summer activities.
It is almost the time for our Wonderful Wednesdays to come to an
end until school starts back in August. The last evening we meet will be
May 18. We hope all our kids have a fun and safe summer!
Remember our VBS is scheduled for June. It will begin Monday,
June 20 and end on Friday, June 24. Robert and Janet Thorpe are leading
VBS this year and we thank them very much for doing this! Please mark
your calendar, and invite your friends to join us for a week of fun and
learning. The theme this year is “Cave Quest,” where we will learn to
follow Jesus, the Light of the World!

*************************
April has been a wonderful month. We have been talking about the events of Christ’s resurrection and what it must have been like for the people who loved him most to see him one more time. We also celebrated 3 big occasions this month. Gentille, the oldest daughter of the Rudaga family is now engaged! We had the pleasure of hosting the event known as a Dot (D-OAT) for her and her new fiancé Prosper. It was such a unique experience and we are all very grateful to be a part of it. The second event was that Gentille’s sisters, Joseline and Joyeuse were baptized by pastor Calvin up at the First Baptist Baptismal fountain. Last but definitely not least was confirmation. This year we had 4 wonderful young ladies, join the church and make the commitment on their own to follow Christ. They were Jessica Jackson, Maggie Strickland, Emily Briscoe and Joyeuse Mureketete (Rudaga family). Thank you all for the support during these wonderful times and we look forward to what the summer holds.
