KOALA INCURSION
Congratulations to for reaching your banking goals andreceiving your rewards.
Thank you to Kate and Kate from Brewongle EnvironmentalCentre for sponsoring a geography and science incursion for allof our Stage 2 and Stage 3 students.
As part of this incursion the students learned:
How does the local environment support the lives ofkoalas?
How can people manage their impact on koala habitats?
They also learned how to identify koalas using tracks andscat (poo). They even got to hold some REAL koala scatand most agreed it smelled NICE! We found out todaythat a koala poos around 200 pellets a day; therefore, itis often easier to find evidence of koalas on the groundthan by sighting them in trees.
If we see a koala, we have been asked to document it onthe Science for Wildlife website. This will help scientiststrack the movements of the Blue Mountains koalaspecies.
We were also invited to attend the Koala Festival andencouraged to enter the ComPOOtion for a free trip toBrewongle Environmental Centre! Now that is somethingworth winning!!
Please see the Koala Festival flyer that is also in this newsletter. It would be great if we had a huge turn out from RichmondNorth PS. Hope to see you there.
