I know many of you may not be a Vikings fans, but you can’t help but be excited. I hope you just enjoy it, whether you’re a fan or not, something exciting is happening! Speaking of exciting, we registered our first New Kindergartener for the 2018-19 school year today. Very exciting indeed! We hosted our first open house for Pre-K and Kinder- garten last night. If you missed it, don’t worry! We are going to be hosting a second one in late February. However, I would like to let you know that if you plan on registering a Pre- kindergarten student or Kindergartener for next year, there is a financial incentive for registering by January 31 st . Completed registrations received by this date qualify for extension of the current year tuition rates for those grades, should rates go up for the 2018-19 school year. Please contact the school office for an early registration form. In the next couple weeks, we will start our registration process for all grades, so look for more information coming home soon. If you would humor me for a minute; I recently watched the movie Apollo 13 again after many years (if you haven’t watched it, I suggest it!). Spoiler alert!! During that movie the mission to the moon has major malfunctions. It turns out they can’t land on the moon and have a difficult journey to get back to Earth. During one of the scenes one of the Mission Control members says “this is going to be the biggest disaster in NASA history” and Flight Director (played by Ed Harris) replies “With all due respect, I believe this is going to be our finest hour.” It turns out it truly was their finest hour. I believe this year is going to be one of our finest “hours” at Saint Rose (and hopefully for the Vikings, too!). I am excited for many reasons, but I’m primarily excited that we have done so much in the last year to bring this school to a new level of excellence. Hopefully you have noticed that as well and are just as excited as we are. Please stay tuned next week for more information about our Catholic Schools Week cele- bration. We have many activities planned and are ready for a wonderful week. I look for- ward to seeing you all on Sunday, January 22th at 10:00 am as we kick off the week with Mass at Saint Rose, followed by our open house and STEM fair. Please join us! School News Have a question

about your child’s lunch balance?

Please email Saint Rose’s Nutrition Services Manager, Stacey Gaetz, with your balance inquiry at [email protected]. Thank you for helping us remain in good standing with district-provided lunch program!

‘Tis the season… for colds and flu!

If it is necessary for a student to be absent, please call the school office (651-646-3832) by 7:45 AM on the day of the absence. No student calls will be accepted. If the school has not been contacted about an absence, school will attempt to contact the child’s parent/guardian during the morning hours to verify the reason for the absence.

** Students experiencing a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea may not return to school until they have

been symptom free for at least 24 hours.**

If a student has been absent for more than three consecutive school days, or more than six days in a trimester for a medical reason, the office must be provided with a medical excuse from the healthcare professional (e.g., doctor, physician’s assistant, or dentist).

When the weather outside is frightful, we want you to be

prepared!

In the event of extreme cold or snow, Saint Rose will follow the lead of Roseville Area School District in closing the school. IF ROSEVILLE AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT IS CLOSED, SAINT ROSE WILL BE CLOSED.

Ultimately, it’s the parents’ and guardians’ choice whether to send their child to school in inclement weather.

We will continue to notify our school families of our decision to close via the news media (the announcement will come under “Roseville Area School District”), Facebook, Twitter, e-mail, and our school website.
