CAROLING SUNDAY
A very special thank you to the 55
carolers who took Christmas cookies
and carols to 56 different people. We
did a lot in three hours! Thank you to
Mary Lee Harris who provides all
the names and special information, to
Kathy Kent who did all the printing
of maps and lists that keeps us orga-
nized, and to all the people who
helped call 100 people to see if they
would be home for carolers to come.
Thanks to the following families who
brought their children during this
busy season to share in this outreach:
Buchanans, Triepels, Lerners, Pel-
tons, Bakhshis, Olivers, Foggs, and
Erika Hurlburt who brought extra
teens.....all part of the Galilee family
sharing the love of Christ. And thank
you to the Women of Galilee Cookie
Walk who donated all extra cookies
to the caroling plates.
Have you seen the new artwork near
the ramp entrance? The Baptism of
Pocahontas engraving was donated
by Thomas Payne.
Lenten Series
In 2007 I embarked upon a verse by
verse study of Jeremiah. I decided
that I wouldn’t move on from a
verse until I understood it. (There
are 52 chapters in Jeremiah, so this
journey took a while.) Shortly be-
fore I came to Galilee in 2009, I
completed that quest. The lessons I
learned from Jeremiah have stuck
with me, and shaped not only my
faith journey but also how I do my
job as a minister.
For our Lenten Series this year we
will take five passages from Jeremi-
ah—and discover the timeless truths
that God still speaks through this
prophet today. Thanks in advance to
the different groups who provide the
excellent lunch fare for our Lenten
series! I look forward to this time
with you. Our first Lenten Lunch
will be on February 25th, at 12 noon.
Yours in Christ,
Father Buchanan+
ALICE RUEGER CIRCLE
The Alice Rueger Circle will meet
on February 3rd at 10:30am in
Tucker Hall. Our speaker will be
Meghan Stufflebeem, Director of
Galilee Montessori.
MEALS ON WHEELS
Galilee is responsible for delivering
meals the third week on the
month. We are looking for a full-
time delivery person for Friday
and a few subs to fill in for illness
and vacations. Drivers will pick up
the meals at the Sentara nursing
home off Rosemont road starting at
9:30. The number of deliveries var-
ies from month to month but it usu-
ally takes about one and half to two
hours. Anyone interested can call
me at 373-3116 or email at
[email protected]. Thanks so
much! - Joan Wagner
FROM THE RECTOR
Dear Friends,
Annual Meeting
Every year we ask
our parishioners to
attend the Annual
Meeting, which is
followed by an
oyster roast and
BBQ. The annual meeting is just
around the corner and will occur on
February 1st. The only change this
year is that instead of two services,
we will combine all three services
into one.
Our combined service will begin at
9:30—with the annual meeting
scheduled to begin at 11, followed
by lunch in Jordan Hall. Activities
for children and childcare/nursery
will be provided.
Thank you in advance to our staff
who will handle many logistical de-
tails for the annual meeting—and
thanks to Ann and Frank Malbon,
who have once again agreed to pull
together the oyster roast and BBQ!
Diocesan Council
Every year the (nearly) 80 parishes
of our diocese gather together with
Bishop Hollerith for 2 days of meet-
ings. This gathering goes by the
name “Diocesan Council”—and at
these meetings we have worship,
teaching, fellowship and business.
Galilee is allowed to send 6 dele-
gates to represent our parish—and I
thank Jamie Rawls, Hugh Patterson,
Molly Ill, Ben Unkle, Jackie
McAfee, and Molly Mabe who have
agreed to attend. Please be in touch
with them or me if you have any
questions.

SENIORS STAYING HOME
From chair exercises to gourmet
snacks, our Seniors were well enter-
tained on January 13th with enlight-
ening information about what our
progressive city has to offer at the
Seniors Staying Home program.
Karen LeRette talked about various
programs at the Recreation Centers,
demonstrated simple exercises and
stressed the importance of staying
active as we age. She especially
pointed out the Silver Sneakers pro-
gram for those 65 and older,
“Forever Young,” and the fact that
transportation is offered within a five
mile radius of each center.
Key-note speaker Kate Hitt shared
information about Senior Services,
Respite Services and many programs
that were new to most in attendance.
Visiting doctors that make house
calls, Project Lifesaver, Housing for
Seniors, mobile dentistry, smoke de-
tectors and more. She answered ques-
tions and stayed for several private
meetings. Both speakers distributed
informational flyers with names and
numbers and Karen and Kate both
offered to assist anyone who had
questions in the future.
Jean Preston-Rae summoned it up
best when she said she thought the
program was “just wonderful,” she
learned a lot and she was glad we had
such a large turn-out. She was proud
that our City has so many special
programs!

Dear Souls,
This past year has gone by so quick-
ly. We came to Galilee on Jan 9th,
2014, where did the year go? Lynn
and I love it here, we love Galilee
and we never cease to be amazed at
what God is doing in His Heal-
ing Ministry. Watching God healing
others is such a privilege. Keep your
eyes on the Lord, seek first His
Kingdom. The Lord is still in the
business of healing.
Please bring a neighbor and a friend
to the first Tuesday of the month
healing services. Be well, do good
works and for the sake of God, love
one another.
In His healing love,

Generational Healing Service With Holy Eucharist Teaching led by Fr. Nigel Mumford
February 21, 2015
9:30am – 11:00am
Patterns of physical, emotional or spiritual sickness can
descend upon individuals and families from generation
to generation, i.e. diabetes, cancer.
The sins of the fathers travel down the generations to
affect the present time, but blessings also travel down
the family lines. Jesus’ healing power can touch our
families with blessing as well as free us from the effects
of sin.
