On time and On Schedule – With Style, thanks to SlenderWallLogisbourg Development, based in Quebec City, Canada, picked BPDL and SlenderWall for its latest project, the Luxenbourg III, a five-story 54-unit luxury apartment complex. The panels were fabricated to be load-bearing with factory-installed foam insulation and windows for Zone 7 thermal performance. Approximately half the panels utilized SlenderWall’s proprietary Second Nature architectural precast brick finish. Construction was completed in late spring of 2017 and tenants are now moving in. — Dale Neal

McCann Concrete Products, Midwest Market PowerhouseMcCann Concrete Products, Inc., Easi-Set’s licensed building producer in Dorsey, IL, is fast becoming the go-to precaster in the Midwest for precast concrete buildings. Early on, McCann Concrete realized the benefits of entering the larger Easi-Span building market. With building footprints ranging from 20’ x 20’ up to 50’ x 250’+, Easi-Span buildings allow for a “clear-span”, long-lasting, all-precast concrete solution for projects with “large-building” needs. In their first four years as a producer, McCann has erected an impressive portfolio of large Easi-Span buildings throughout the region. Another of their “hot” markets is park restrooms. McCann Concrete recently provided a replacement double-vault restroom to the Ozark National Scenic Riverways in Van Buren, Mo. The economical and durable qualities of Easi-Set restrooms have made them the perfect choice for the National Parks Service, as well as other local and state parks. Mountain West Precast, based in Brigham City, UT. “It is with great pleasure that we welcome Mountain West Precast aboard,” says Jeremy Smith, building products manager for Easi-Set Worldwide. “Stephanie Loud, President of Mountain West, and I have been in conversation over the past several years as she was constructing her new plant with the intention of adding Easi-Set Buildings to her array of precast products. With Stephanie’s many Government customers and contacts, Easi-Set Buildings are a natural fit for her business model. We expect BIG things from Mountain West!”Con-Cast Pipe of Ontario, Canada has recently purchased the precast operations of our Easi-Set Buildings and J-J Hooks producer Hy-Grade Precast. Con-Cast is a dominate construction precaster in their market. Hy-Grade has been a long and successful producer of Easi-Set products. The plant will continue under the Hy-Grade brand with plans for plant improvements and market expansion. We expect even greater market penetration for Easi-Set products in Ontario under Con-Cast’s leadership.Forterra, a leader in the precast concrete infrastructure industry across North America, has taken over our J-J Hooks producer, Sherman-Dixie Concrete Industries. SlenderWall exhibits at two national ShowsBuilding Innovations – The National Institute of Building Sciences organizes a 5-day conference in Washington DC every year, bringing thought leaders in Government and Industry together, to discuss the future of Building Technologies. Easi-Set is proud to support this organization and to have participated in their technologies expo this past January.

Facades+ NYC – Architect’s Newspaper, a leading media company in the commercial architecture market, annually organizes Facades+ events in 11 cities across the US. These shows include a manufacturer’s expo, a continuous schedule of panel presentations and discussions centered solely on the subject of building envelope technologies and design. The 2-day gathering in Manhattan this past April, in which SlenderWall participated, is their premier event. — Dale Neal Chinese firm explores

easi-Set partnershipNantong Sijian Construction Group Chairman Geng Yuhua and his team visited Easi-Set for two days in mid-April. Based in Jiangsu Province, NSCG has 70,000 employees working in construction, including precast concrete. NSCG contacted Easi-Set President Art Miles to discuss a technology partnership that would allow the company to manufacture SlenderWall across China, with Easi-Set supplying technical and logistics support. — Dale Neal

SlenderWall® Panels Chosen For Landmark tysons Corner ProjectOn the corner of Route 123 and Route 7, the “original” Tysons Corner, VA, Lennar Multifamily Communities (LMC) is developing the new Tysons Central complex. Lennar, a Fortune 500 company, is a top-ranked player in the multi-family market. “The Lumen”, designed by architectects Davis, Carter, Scott, will be the first in a 6 building development. The 346-ft building, approximately 865-ft rise above sea level, will be the highest by elevation in the Tysons area with expansive views of Washington, DC and the Blue Ridge Mountains. LMC specified SlenderWall and the contractor Hoar Construction engaged Smith-Midland to manufacture and install the 452 panels. Smith-Midland will provide turn-key service on the project, including final joint insulation and caulking. Production of the panels is currently scheduled to begin in the summer of 2017 with erection to be completed in early 2018. Filled with 3.5” of factory-installed closed-cell foam to achieve an R-24 rating, SlenderWall will play a significant role in the plans for this building to achieve a LEED rating. — Dale Neal

Jackson Precast awarded St. Jude Hosptial jobSt. Jude Hospital in Memphis TN plans a massive expansion which in six years could add more than $1 billion in construction for its campus. The initial project is a 10-story new ALSAC Office Building. The General Contractor for the project is Yates & Sons Construction. The cladding selected for this project is SlenderWall precast panels. The Easi-Set licensed producer for the panels on this project is Jackson Precast of Jackson, MS. A 2nd building is in the planning stages and again SlenderWall is under consideration. — Art Miles

Pushing the envelopeSlenderWall licensee in Monterrey MX, Opticretos SA is completing the “Insignia de Saltillo”, a 10-story office building in Coahuila, Saltillo MX. The 718 skewed parallelogram panels that were produced for this project created a very unique look. The project was designed by Cuatro 44 Architecture in Monterrey. It will be the first LEED-Certified building in Coahuila. NEST Architecture in Monterrey MX is finalizing plans with Opticretos for a 38-story commercial/office building in Monterrey. — Art Miles

J-J HOOKS UPdateIn January 2017, we received the Final Test Report No 690900-JJH10 “MASH Test 3-11 of the Easi-Set MASH FREE-STANDING BARRIER” from the Texas Transportation Institute (TTI) test laboratory. The required crash test

vehicle is a 5000lb pickup truck. On July 6, 2017 we received from TTI an Engineered Analysis report. This report states “that the MASH Test 3-10 is a non-critical test for the J-J Hooks MASH Free-Standing System. This means that Easi-Set now has a full complement of MASH tested barrier types – free-standing, bolt-down & pin-down. The Federal Highway Administration Memorandum dated January 2016, whose purpose was to share information regarding the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO)/FHWA Joint Implementation Agreement for the AASHTO Manual for Assessing Safety Hardware” (MASH), along with FHWA Memorandum dated March 17, 2017 describing the different roles and responsibilities of FHWA and AASHTO since the transition from the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Report 350 testing criteria to AASHTO’s MASH criteria, and the FHWA “Open Letter to All Highway Safety Hardware & Roadside Design Community” dated on May 26, 2017 containing implementation process changes by FHWA have created many difficulties maneuvering our J-J Hooks MASH barriers through the States DOT product evaluation and approval maze.EASI-SET is tackling the challenges of connecting the available fragmented information, in order to help eliminate the confusion and frustration that stands in the way of DOT’s delivering higher quality and lower cost successfully-tested temporary longitudinal barriers into their road systems. — Art Miles
