once a week? Please call 507-828-2171 and we can find the time that works for you. 8:00 – Noon. PLEASE

From Fr. Steffl:
Wishing everyone a continued celebration of the Lord’s Birth – Merry Christmas and Happy New
Year. (It’s sort of too bad that in the hectic “rush” up to Christmas, that when it finally arrives, we
don’t stop to celebrate Jesus’ birth as we should.) The Church celebrates both Christmas and Easter
each year as “Octaves” meaning a continued 8-day celebration of the day, which ends on January 1st.
The Sunday after Christmas each year is the Feast of the Holy Family, a very beautiful
opportunity to reflect on the goodness of our own family life in light of the Holy Family of the
Child Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.
On that note, just a reminder, too of the Holy Day of Obligation that is January 1st, the Feast of
Mary, Mother of God. What a nice way to begin our new year is with the Lord and at Mass, offering
our next year to Him, and thanking Him for the many blessings we have received over the course of
this past year that we are leaving behind us. Please see the schedule of Masses – there are many
opportunities between the vigil Masses in the evening on December 31 and the morning of January 1st
to make your Mass obligation for that day. In addition to the Masses on January 1 at 8:30 am in Milroy
and 10:30 am in Tracy, the following other opportunities are also available:
December 31st – 5 pm at Holy Redeemer, Marshall
December 31st – 7 pm at St. Clotilde, Green Valley
January 1st – 8 am and 10 am at Holy Redeemer, Marshall
January 1st – 12 noon at the Campus Religious Center Chapel in Marshall
This Sunday there is an insert in the bulletin – 15 Catholic New Years’ Resolutions. Please take a
look at it, and make some “spiritual” resolutions for the New Year. I think that it is a helpful list of
things to consider.
One of the suggestions is to do a spiritual pilgrimage. September 14-25 2020, I am leading a pilgrimage
to Fatima/Lourdes and some other spiritually important sites in Spain. Maybe this would be a good
idea for you, if you have not done anything like this before. Brochures are available in the Holy
Redeemer Office, or can be found on the Holy Redeemer website. I have done pilgrimages through the
company organizing this trip in past years, and have found them to be very good and reliable.
My “spiritual goals” for our parishes in 2020 are two-fold. First, I want to work on continuing to
deepen our understanding of stewardship – realizing the blessings that God has given us of our time,
talent, and treasure, and how we return that to God and His Church. Second, to see a growth in
appreciation of daily Mass and monthly Confession. Beyond those, I am also trying to coordinate
setting up Perpetual Adoration in Marshall at the chapel that is in the convent attached to Holy
Redeemer School, and I am hoping that people from Milroy and Tracy would also be willing to take an
hour of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament every week. It is a great way to grow in prayer and our
relationship with Jesus!
Happy New Year! Let’s continue praying for each other and helping each other grow in our love
of Jesus and His Church as we count our many blessings and show our gratitude to God for
bringing us together in our faith!
