WELCOME WEEKWorried about meeting new friends at college? Don’t be! Every September the University hosts Welcome Week - a celebration where both new and current students enjoy fun games, free food, contests, movies, and prizes. There is also a student-only concert or two that same week!

WANT MORE?At Racers Station you can participate in video game tournaments, play billiards, compete in karaoke contests, bust your moves at dances, and try out your skills on open mic nights! There are also monthly live music nights and comedy nights to enjoy with friends! Racers Station also has multiple TVs and all the popular gaming consoles. It’s all to help you meet new friends on campus and enjoy the UNOH experience.

NEW STUDENT SERVICES DEPARTMENTThe New Student Services Department is responsible for assisting with the transition from high school to college. There are many questions and concerns associated with moving away to a new learning enviornment. This is where New Students Services can help. Questions dealing with a wide variety of subjects such as housing, financial aid, scheduling, and orientation are fielded through this department. New students will receive phone calls to check their progress and assist in preparing for college. This department can help ease the worries that come with getting ready for a university education.

INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE

Are you interested in traveling abroad? The University has an incredible class you can take which gives you the chance to travel overseas and earn college credit.For college credit, you must first enroll in the International Travel class, which lasts one quarter. During the class, you will learn about taxes, tariffs, customs, security issues, and language barriers. After completing the class, you are ready to embark on an exciting trip! One of the unique aspects of the International Travel course is the class and trip expenses can be offset through financial aid funds.

If you want to experience other cultures and enjoy an incredible adventure, then consider enrolling in the International Travel class as an elective within your associate or bachelor degree program. Since 2002 student groups have traveled to: England, Italy, Greece, Spain, Scotland, Ireland, Germany, France, Turkey, Peru, and Australia.

After you complete an associate’s degree at UNOH in Medical Assisting, Medical Office Management, or Health Information Technology, or transfer in any health-related associate degree, you can then complete your Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration. Professionals holding the RHIT credentials are responsible for: Ensuring the quality of medical records by verifying their completeness, accuracy, and proper entry into various computer systems. They also use computer applications to gather and analyze patient data in order to improve patient care and control costs. Some RHIT’s specialize in cancer treatment, and they are responsible for compiling and maintaining data on cancer patients specifically.

I’m very passionate about the healthcare field and I’m passionate about helping others. With my associate’s degree in Health Information Technology and my bachelor degree in Healthcare Administration, I definitely have a way to keep building on to my job opportunities available to me when I graduate. Going to UNOH and having the small class size, you get a lot of one-to-one time with the professors. I think the professors really do go above and beyond. Even after I completed my associate’s degree, they stayed in touch and let me know about job opportunities that are out there.

WHY UNOH?The UNOH Military Relations Department provides assistance to all active military, reservist, and National Guard members and assists with scheduling, financial aid, and transfer of credits.

The Military Relations Office will assist you in your enrollment process and guide you through your chosen career path. The office is staffed by dedicated personnel who are educated on all educational benefits offered by the military. Staff members will help to make sure you are receiving all the benefits you deserve.

We accept the Joint Services Transcript and CCAF and honor credit equivalencies defined by the American Council on Education (ACE) for military course work, experience, and testing programs, such as CLEP and DANTES.

MILITARY TUITION SCHOLARSHIPThe University provides a special rate for all active military, reservist and National Guard members. The College of Business, Health Professions, and Occupational Professions tuition rate is equivalent to the current Federal Tuition Assistance rate of $165 per credit hour. In the College of Applied Technologies, students will receive a scholarship worth 10% off of their tuition.

THE SIMULTANEOUS MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM (SMP)The Army National Guard and U.S. Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) offer the SMP to qualified full-time college students who are members of the Army National Guard. SMP is a two-year program whereby cadets serve in the Army National Guard and attend ROTC classes “simultaneously”. SMP begins in the fall term of a full-time student’s Sophomore or Junior year at UNOH or the first year of graduate school or a combination of both undergraduate and graduate level programs. Cadets receive a commission as a 2nd lieutenant in the United States Army after completion of a bachelor’s degree or graduate degree and the ROTC advanced course. Newly commissioned officers then serve the Army National Guard.

The University of Northwestern Ohio offers three types of plans for all enrolled students. Meal plans can be used at the UNOH Food Court, Pit Stop, Racers Café, or Lock Sixteen Steakhouse. There are one-, two-, and three-meal per day options. Each meal swipe must be used by the end of the session or quarter depending on the student’s college and program. For snacks or extra meals, Racer Bucks can be added to any Student ID Card or Meal Plan. One Racer Buck is equivalent to $1.00. Racer Bucks can be added with cash, check, or credit card at any of the Food Service locations or by calling the Food Court at (419) 998-3129. For information on how to purchase UNOH Meal Plans, please contact the Cashier’s Office at (419) 998-3156.

STUDENT COMMONS FOOD COURTThe Food Court is located on the main floor of the Student Commons Building on the west end of the University’s campus. The Food Court features full-service and made-to-order meals at a variety of stations. The Food Court offers pizza, paninis, soups, a salad bar, sub station, hot and cold sandwiches, grill station, stir fry station, home-cooked meals, along with orders to go. Open 7 days a week.

RACERS CAFE The Racers Café features express service dining perfect for between-class snacks and lunches. It offers sandwiches, pizza, fries, and even delivery to on-campus addresses! Open: Monday-Thursday 7am - 2pm, Friday 7am - 1pm.

Students have one quarter to provide evidence of high school graduation. Failure to produce such evidence will require full payment of fees to be made by the students on the due date for each term attended until the evidence is provided. UNOH maintains a policy of zero tolerance for sexual misconduct regardless of the gender, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, results of genetic testing, race, color, marital status, ethnicity, religion, creed, ancestry, national origin, disability, age, veteran status, service in the military, or other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local laws, of the individuals engaging in sexual activity or other conduct addressed in this Policy. Zero tolerance means the University will respond to all unwelcome conduct of a sexual

nature and will impose serious sanctions on anyone who violates this Policy. The University’s response is intended to end harassing or discriminatory conduct, prevent its recurrence, and remedy the effects on the complainant and the community to the extent possible.
