Unofficial Driver Sets Windows 7 32 Bit
Inspiron Laptops
For convenience of updating I have arranged the models by age (the dates correspond to the
earliest BIOS Revision which is approximately the date they were released).
Pre-Vista Systems (Intel)
Inspiron 1200 = Inspiron B120 32 bit (07/03/2005)
Inspiron 1300 = Inspiron B130 32 bit (18/01/2005)
Inspiron 6000 32 bit (05/07/2005)
Inspiron 9100 32 bit (19/03/2004)
Inspiron 9200 32 bit (01/12/2004)
Inspiron 9300 32 bit (24/02/2005)
Inspiron XPS Generation 2 32 bit (17/03/2005)
These systems just run Windows 7 at a push. Windows Index Experience = 1.0
The cost of a Windows 7 license and any memory upgrades is probably not justified and I
would recommend purchasing a new system if you can afford it.
Not 64 bit compatible.
1st generation Vista Systems (Intel) - Media Direct
Inspiron 640m = Inspiron E1405 32 bit (02/05/2006)
Inspiron 6400 = Inspiron E1505 32 bit (20/06/2006)
Inspiron 9400 = Inspiron E1705 32 bit (14/04/2006)
These systems run Windows 7 well. Windows Index Experience ~ 3.2.
These will likely also run Windows 8 without many problems.
64 bit compatibility depends on the processor; many of these systems aren't 64 bit
compatible.
Usable RAM is limited to 3.25 GB in these models so the 32 bit OS is recommended.

Dell fully support Windows 7 64 bit on this model. Windows 7 32 bit drivers weren't
officially released but most of them are available on the Dell FTP website where the 32 bit
driver set was taken from.

There is a slight problem with Historical Driver links. Right click the folder (which has the

Note for the N411z you may need to take some drivers from the N311z as it doesn't seem to
be showing many historical drivers.

Remarks: This system won't run Windows 7 32 bit very well as it is an old model and
the cost of a license probably is more than it’s worth.
It is recommended 2 GB of RAM to be installed. Windows 7 32 bit won't install unless
you have at least 1 GB of RAM installed.

Follow the wizard, Name: Dell Quickset,< Next> Trigger: When I log on <next> Action: Start Program
<next> select program, navigate to C:\Program Files\Quickset and click on the Quickset Icon. Then
click finish. Almost done, at this stage it worked but I got a UAC prompt everytime I powered up.
The next step is to find Dell Quickset in the Task Schedular Library. Double click it and edit its general
properties.
Check run with highest privileges. Now go to the triggers tab edit triggers
Change "Specific User" to "Any User" and make sure enabled is checked at the bottom left. Click
