Six great ideas for using these Spelling Practice Cards in the classroom:

1 Show the class a card and drill its pronunciation. Then hide the word and ask students to write it.

2 Use the words with missing letters on the backs of the cards to practise your students’ spelling. Get students to compete in teams to make it more engaging.

3 After drilling, ask students to group the cards according to how many syllables their words have.

4 Give teams of students three cards each and ask them to write a correctly spelled sentence that includes all of them.

5 Stick some cards on the board, take one away while students aren’t looking, and then ask which one’s gone and how to spell it.

6 Give teams of students one of the cards which has a long word on it and ask them to make as many new words as possible using its letters.
