The lecture was presented by Dr. Tif Qureshi, pioneer of the Inman Aligner in the UK. The lecture provided an insight on interceptive orthodontic treatment, simple tooth alignment combined with bleaching and bonding with a talk on the concept of progressive smile design. Dr. Qureshi also provided the delegates on how and what materials he uses for composite work on simple non-invasive edge bonding. Kash stated “ This was a great talk on how orthodontic treatment can be incorporated into a treatment plan before restorative work takes places and Tif provided helpful knowledge from his own experience, I do feel that this lecture should be a lecture that all dental professionals should hear. Mihir, Ramesh, Kunal and Heema do a good job in getting lecturers that are all relevant to what goes on currently in practice and provide helpful knowledge for like minded professionals, looking forward to the next one!” The next lecture is by Richard Field on Dental Photography and Minimally Invasive Dentistry. What is PEEK?Dental PEEK ( polyetheretherketone) is a high-performance metal free polymer which is used in CAD/CAM for crown & bridges, partial dentures, secondary and telescope restorations, attachment restorations or screw-retained, implant-supported superstructures.

PEEK is biocompatible with a e-modulus strength of 4000 GPa and a flexural strength of 150 - 170 Mpa. Dental PEEK has a high resistance to wear, abrasion and corrosion and has a bone-like modulus of elasticity for high strength and flexibility and the combination of high strength and low weight ensures intra-oral comfort.

For more than 30 years, PEEK has been used in human medicine as an implant material (finger prostheses, intervertebral discs and hip joint prostheses). It’s strong and lightweight for improved patient comfort and is tasteneutral (no metal taste) with no thermal or electrical conductivity. PEEK is x-ray and scanner friendly and is non-allergenic whilst being shock absorbent during chewing.
