3.2.2. Source of Primary Data
This comprises of questiolmircs and interviews. The researcher tuvk
time to design the ncscessary questionnaires for data collectiun taking
cognisance of the aim of this research. Thus the researcher designed bui:h
structured and u~istructurcd quch~io~ls for sa~uplc s~al'l' of' First Bank, Dia~norcl
Bank and All States Trust Bank Nigeria Pic all in Enugu.
- - a) Structured Questions
These are the types of questions that gives the
.- clioices of *answer to each question and i t inakes
responses from responclents in order to draw a meaningful inference
fn)ln tI1e111.
b) Unstructured Qucst ions
These types of questions enabled respondents to express their motives
and attitudes and to specil'y thc conditions upon which tlicir answcrs arc
based. This is because the facts that will be 'nloppd up from thc
responses may aid him to make a sound recornmcndation.
c) Interviews t
The researcher took timc ro visit thcsc hanks. this carncd her t l~c
opportuniiy of' first hand inlbr~natiun on the going on in the banks a ~ d
were heid with the banks' of't'icial based on their training practices.
The need for this arose because of the inability 01' the questionnaire to
give the respondents cnough room tu ful ly csprcss tllcnisclvcs. Also
the questionnaire was unablc to ask follow up questions. Above all. the
researcher used 111is 111ct1wd LO nlop up all other infi~r~natiwl that could
not be provided by the qucs~io~inairc.
3.2.3 Sources of Secondary Data

3.5 SAR4PI .E SIZE DETLKI\.IINATION
I n order to get a reasonable result of the study. it becar~ie necessary to
use statistically determined samplc size for the study and consequeiltly; ~nalie

sample size was finally cvnsritutccl based un the following unhiascd cstinlat~:d
method. (Njoku, 1990, p. 40)

The researcher believes that the thorough esaniina~ion of thc three
banks major branches in Enugu will give a realistic result of what it is
elsewhere in Nigeria. Thus the major branches in Enugu metropoly in the
ratio of their staff strength got the questiunnaires as propor~imaily distributed
to them.
The major instru~nenr for data collection was the questionnaire which
was distributed to the respondents i n their respective branches and
