PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Natural History Outdoor Excursions

Join us for exploration and discussions of the natural wonders of the west. Participants will complete coursework through email as well as participate in an excursion to each locale to see the geology, plants, and animals firsthand. You must attend the trip to receive credit for the course.

These courses will be useful to anyone teaching natural sciences - most of the California State Earth Science Standards are covered. Those with a general interest in and appreciation for our National Parks and wild places are also welcome!

So, what is the most effective way to prepare for the first two or three days of school? What can a teacher do in those first days that will create more teaching and learning time throughout the year? This course answers these questions and helps teachers create optimal conditions for learning that can lead to a successful school year. Also, the text provides additional ideas and materials to encourage and maintain good student behavior. To receive credit, students must either complete GOTAGS workshop (initial day and follow-up) or work through a variety of readings and activities in the GOTAGS manual with a certified trainer online through Skype, enroll for credit, and complete selected assignments.
