COURSE SYLLABUS TITLE OF COURSE: 20th Century Spanish Literature: content expansion and the use of literature in the ELE classroom UNIVERSITY: University of Santiago de Compostela. Besides, didactic materials and specific resources to work with students in the ELE classroom will be created and reviewed in this course. The ludic factor will also be taken into account. It is mainly a practical course which does not forget the reflection on essential theoretical issues in teaching.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

• Know the historical and cultural context around the literary production in the 20th century.

• Integrate it in literature teaching, due to its universality and intercultural value • Consider the possibilities of the literary text in the ELE classroom. • Approach the literature teaching assuming the fact that literature and communicative

skills are closely related. • Design activities and strategies to promote creativity in the classroom. In addition,

the student will get used to dealing with texts different genres and trends of the Spanish literature

• Work on the different possibilities of didactic exploitation offered by the literary genres in the ELE classroom.

• Consider and discuss about literature textbooks for ELE students and their adequacy to the classroom needs.

I also developed teaching materials. I modified the aural comprehension chapter of a Spanish manual (Ven I) from the

traditional approach to one based on hands-on activities. I gave nine conferences on the subject of Spanish Culture and Civilization. I participated in the Pontifical Catholic University Symposium titled: Task or non Task

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course will target experienced or prospect teachers with an upper-intermediate/ advanced level of oral and written skills. It is convenient for those teachers in need of an update of their linguistic and cultural competences taking the Road to Santiago as common thread: art, anthropology, music, landscape and literature. It includes classes off-campus in historic sites of the city, such as the Pilgrims Museum or the Colegiata de Sar.

- Since 1999 has served as Deputy Coordinator, UNESCO Chair on Migration No. 226, University of Santiago. - He has developed two main lines of research. A focus on religious behaviors in the Modern Age Galicia, as well as pilgrimages to Santiago, and another in the mobility of the population, focusing especially on the Galician emigration in the interior of the Iberian Peninsula to America between the seventeenth to XX. Also recently been interested in the internal displacement study of the Portuguese population, especially to the city of Lisbon in the eighteenth century. - His publications include Los comportamientos religiosos en la Galicia del Barroco, Santiago 2002, that contains part of his doctoral thesis. With D. Antonio Eiras Roel has coordinated the publication of the proceedings of three symposia organized by the UNESCO Chair, which have had a share, Movilidad y migraciones internas en la Europa Latina. BRIEF CV ALBERTO MARTÍ EZPELETA (Zaragoza, 1964) is Geography Senior Lecturer of the Physical Geography Area, in the Faculty of Geography and History of the University of SantiagodeCompostela(USC). Formed in the University of Zaragoza, graduated in 1987 and was conferred a doctorate in 1993. It carries out the charge of professor in the USC from 1993. Such as an investigator completed stays in the Agrarian Ecology institute of Perugia and in the Territory Departament of Padova. He directed several doctoral tesis and he participated in several financed I+D projects for public summons as: the “Study of urban climate and his repercussions in the average environment of Zaragoza, Huesca and Teruel”, financed by the Government of Aragon; the “Study of urban climate of La Coruña

He is specialist in applied climatology (urban climatology, agroclimatology and climatic risks) and Nature Reserves.
