Join the University of Rochester Travel Club on a thoughtfully-designed, six-night program to London and Bath, hosted by alumna Erica Fee '98, founding producer of the Rochester Fringe Festival. This unique program will begin in London, one of the world’s great melting pots rich with history and culture. Dive into the theatre capital of the world as we discover London’s West End with behind-the-scenes access to London’s prestigious theatres, and take part in a special private session led by a local producer. Cross the River Thames and trace the footsteps of famous poets and playwrights before visiting the original location of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. Admire architectural marvels like the Baroque domes and spires of St. Paul’s Cathedral, and soak in six centuries of history at the National Portrait Gallery. Spend a day at the world-famous Chelsea Flower Show, one of the premier events to take place in London. Travel to Bath on a high-speed train and take part in Bath Festival, which celebrates music and literature while bringing the streets of Bath to life. We will end the program exploring the city, touring the preserved Roman Baths and the limestone buildings that create the city’s gorgeous glow.

W e begin the program in London, one of the world’s most
iconic cities, taking in its rich culture and history. Visit the Royal
Academy of Arts, founded in 1768, it is amongst the most
prestigious art institutions in the world. Begin discovering
London’s theatre scene with a
private tour of West End and
get an exclusive, behind-the-
scenes tour of one of London’s
premier theatres. End the day
with a special private session
led by a local theatre producer
before enjoying a reception
attended by local University of
Rochester Alumni.
Spend a day at the Chelsea
Flower Show, a world-
renowned horticulture show and
one of London’s most premier
events. Stroll through show-
stopping gardens, discovering
creative floral artworks from
around the globe. After dinner,
enjoy an optional evening
theatre performance.
Cross the River Thames and
discover the Bankside district
on foot with a local guide where
we will hear about the lives of
the poets and playwrights who lived there. Stop by the original
site of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre before a behind-the-scenes
tour of the reconstructed Globe nearby. Visit the St. Paul’s
Cathedral, whose unmissable silhouette on the London skyline is
often considered to be Christopher Wren’s architectural
masterpiece. Explore the National Portrait Gallery and enjoy
dinner at a local restaurant before an optional evening theatre
performance.
Take a high-speed train to Bath where we will take part in the
Bath Festival events and performances happening across the
UNESCO World Heritage Site.

and diverse range of events,
bringing international artists and
emerging talent to the city.
Enjoy a day at leisure to explore
the performances that most
appeal to you. Aside from the
events of the festival, we
encourage you to explore some
of the many cultural sites around
the city, including The Jane
Austen Center or perhaps a visit
to the Thermae Bath, and
indulge in Britain’s only natural
hot springs as the Romans once
did.
As a group, discover the famous
Roman Baths, one of the best-
preserved Roman remains in the
world. Enjoy afternoon tea
before exploring the beautiful
streets of Bath with a local
guide. Stroll through the city
with its stunning Georgian architecture and marvel at the iconic
Royal Crescent and the majestic Circus. Take in the Gravel
Walk and Georgian Garden, where Jane Austen found inspiration
for her novels. Enjoy a lovely farewell dinner. The group will
return to London by train before your independent flights home.
DIFFICULTY LEVEL: MEDIUM. The trip will spend considerable time at performances and museums and will require being able to be on your
feet for extended periods of times, walking for 20 minutes or more, and using stairs.
