Basics – Assistive Technology

Assistive technology is any item, piece of equipment, or product system whether acquired commercially off the shelf, modified, or customized that is used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of a child with a disability.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL)

UDL – Universal Design for LearningMultiple means of representation to give

learners various ways of acquiring information and knowledge.

Multiple means of action and expression to provide learners alternatives for demonstrating what they know.

Multiple means of engagement to tap into learners’ interests, challenge them appropriately, and motivate them to learn.

Flexible digital media is easier than ever to provide these multiple alternatives
