recognized institution; or KCSE (Mean C-) plus a Certificate and a Diploma from a recognized institution; or “O” Level Division III (EACE or KCE) with a Diploma; or “A” Level (EAACE or KACE) with two Principal Passes
• 44 Course Units to be taken in a minimum of 7 semesters
Master of Arts (MA) Degree Programmes• Bachelors Degree in a relevant field from a recognized University• Those with Lower Second Class Division should have two years
postgraduate experience in the relevant field• 12 Course Units with a Project or 8 Course Units with a Thesis to be
taken in a minimum of 4 Semesters
Diploma Programmes• Ordinary Diploma: KCSE (Mean C) or its equivalent; 8 or 10 Course
Units to be taken in 2 or 3 Semesters• Post-Graduate Diploma: Bachelors Degree (Pass); 8 Course Units to be

APPLICATION PROCEDUREApplication forms can be obtained from the Admissions Office Reception Room 116, located at the Main Campus of the University, Administration block first floor, for undergraduate programmes and Board of postgraduate studies Office ( for post graduates) at main campus Gandhi wing upon payment of a non-refundable application fee of Kshs 3,000. Application fees for PhD is Ksh. 4,000.The application fee may be paid by Direct Deposit into the UON CESSP Applications Account, Barclays Plaza, Branch, A/C No. 03-022-2032770838. CASH AND POSTAL ORDERS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Application forms can also be downloaded from the University of Nairobi website: www.uonbi.ac.ke/ ( “admissions”). With evidence of payment of the application fee furnished at the time of application forms submission. Completed forms should be returned to the Academic Registrar on or before March 11th 2016

ORDINARY DIPLOMA IN INTERNATIONAL STUDIESAdmission Requirements
a) KCSE Mean Grade C or above with grade C in English, from a recognized Institution;
b) KCE Division II or above with a Pass in English
c) ‘A’ Level Certificate with at least One Principal Pass or equivalent;
d) A University degree in any relevant field from a University recognized by Senate
Main Areas of Study

BACHELOR OF ARTS IN GENDER AND DEVELOPMENT STUDIES
FULL TIME (DAY PROGRAMME & EVENNING)
Admission Requirements:a) K.C.S.E. (Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education)
Mean Grade of C+ or its equivalent;
b) K.C.S.E. with a C plain or equivalent plus a Diploma from a recognized post secondary institution.
c) Division II in “O” level certificate plus three years relevant work experience.
d) A-Level Certificate of two principal passes (E.A.A.C.E or K.A.C.E.) or its equivalent from an Institution recognized by the University of Nairobi Senate.
e) Degree or Diploma from a recognized University or from any other institution of higher learning recognized by the University of Nairobi.
MASTER OF ARTS IN GENDER AND DEVELOPMENT STUDIESAdmission Requirements:
a) Holders of Bachelors degree at upper second class honors and above from the University of Nairobi or other institutions recognized by Senate
b) Holders of Bachelors degree at lower second class honors from the University of Nairobi or other institutions recognized by Senate, with two years relevant post qualification experience
c) Holders of a Bachelors degree at lower second class honors or pass degree and a postgraduate diploma from the University of Nairobi or other institutions recognized by Senate
d) Holders of a pass degree from the University of Nairobi or other institutions recognized by Senate with at least five years relevant post qualification experience.
DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY IN ANTHROPOLOGY
Introduction
The doctoral programme consists of full time or part-time study, research and writing of thesis. The Common Regulations for the Doctor of Philosophy in ALL faculties shall be applicable.
Admission Requirements:a) A holder of a Master of Arts in Anthropology degree of
the University of Nairobi.
b) A holder of a Master of Arts in Anthropology degree of a recognized university whose degree has been accepted by Senate to be equivalent.
c) Holders of a Masters degree in a discipline other than Anthropology shall be eligible for registration if they satisfy Senate that they possess sufficient foundation in Anthropology to be able to pursue studies and research in, and write a thesis on anthropology subject.
Form and Duration of Registration
A candidate registered for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy shall carry out a programme of original study and research over a minimum of two years on a full-time basis and four years on a part-time basis.
