    Opening for Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Broadcast News

    The University of Memphis Department of Journalism seeks an Assistant Professor for a tenure-

    track position in broadcast news. Requirements include a doctorate in mass communication or a

    related field (ABD considered with Ph.D. completion within a year of starting date), full-time

    professional experience in television news, and college or university teaching experience.

    Multimedia/social media skills are a plus.

    The successful candidate will advise students and teach broadcast news courses and core

    journalism classes in ACEJMC-accredited baccalaureate and masters programs serving some 400

    undergraduates and 60 graduate students, the latter enrolled in on-campus and synchronous on-

    line programs. Superior teaching and communication skills are required for a program

    emphasizing balance in teaching, research and service.

    Screening will begin Sept. 15, 2012, and may continue until the position is filled. The successful
