GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION

Higher education in Limoges started to develop dramatically in the 1950s, driven by both the city of Limoges and various local and regional authorities:

The “Collège Scientifique Universitaire” (scientific school) was founded.

The “Collège Universitaire de Droit et des Sciences Économiques” (University College of Law and Economics) and the “Collège Littéraire Universitaire” (University College of Literature) were created.

The University of Limoges was officially created on October 24th 1968, gathering the four traditional faculties as well as a University Institute of Technology (IUT).

Its statutes were drawn up and adopted in 1970 by the Constitutive Assembly under the presidency of Robert Savy.

The “École de Plein Exercice de Médecine et de Pharmacie” (medical school) was created.
