Completing the PhD and writing this thesis was an amazing journey that
would not have been possible without the support and encouragement of
many outstanding people in one way or the other.
First and foremost, I sincerely convey and express my gratitude and love
to my beloved parents who stood by me throughout my life. I will never
forget their sacrifices and constant support in spite of odd circumstances.
Apart from them, Teachers, friends and my in-laws, also encouraged and
supported me while pursuing my PhD. I can never forget their help and
support for which I am deeply indebted to all of them.
I am thankful to all my teachers for imparting knowledge and guidance.
They constantly supported, encouraged and guided during my studies and
motivated me at difficult times. In particular my guru Dr. B. V. Ramana,
source of inspiration for undertaking PhD, he constantly motivated me by
illustrating great examples. I never forget his teachings, guidance and
concentration to pay more attention to minute details for the success. It
indeed changed my life and influenced my career extensively.
I would like to express my deep gratitude to Prof. B. L. Feringa for his
patience, guidance, enthusiastic encouragement and excellent critical

an enthusiastic boss. I really feel proud to have worked under your
supervision and I remember all the discussions we have had over the last
four years. I thank you very much for everything that you have done for
me.
Dear Ben, Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to do PhD
under your supervision. As I always said I never felt missing either my
family or home country because I felt almost same affection and
atmosphere in the group as well as in department and in Groningen. I will
never forget our visit to India for a conference and visiting an Indian
temple and discussing your broad views about religion and culture was
quite impressive. Finally I would say you are the best example for a great
