Homecoming is just over a week away!!! UHS will have their
own Homecoming Dance this year on
Saturday, September 24th from 7-11pm in the South Gym. The attire is semi formal. Tickets are $10 each or $15 per couple. Tickets are available NOW in the finance office. Students may also purchase tickets at the door. Check out the homecoming flyer for more details!
Are you interested in forming a car pool with families in your area but don’t know anyone to get it started with? Let us help you! The UHS Par-ents’ Association is asking that you complete your information in the google link https://goo.gl/forms/oQflk96kVcJTB2Gs2 if you are interest-ed in meeting families in your area to car pool with! Upon completing the form, you will be notified of families with a similar zip code they want to use for pick up/drop off. While the UHSPA is helping you get in touch with families who want to carpool, this is not a UH-SPA, UHS or TUSD sponsored Carpool service. It is the responsibility of the families interested in participating to do their due diligence. The UHSPA is only serving to connect interested fam-ilies with one another.
Amy Cislak, Principal
Penguin Families,
On Thursday, September 15th from 4-7pm, we will be hosting Parent/Teacher conferences. Parents are
welcome to schedule appointments with teachers in advance or drop in on he 15th. Teachers will have schedules post-ed on their doors for you to sign up for an appointment the day of so that you can meet with other teachers if there is a line at a particular teacher’s room. As always, you are encouraged to email your stu-dent’s teacher if you need to meet during another time.
On Friday, September 16th, we will have an early release schedule (11:43am dis-missal). Our seniors have an exciting day planned on Friday the 16th that we hope to expand to all grade levels on another date. All seniors will be participating in our 1st Annual Penguin Pathways Day! 13 UHS Alumni have stepped forward to assist us in this event as guest speakers!!
Our goal is to make this an annual event on the fall half day. We will cancel classes and focus on helping students prepare for life after high school by giving them infor-mation about how to make choices about college and careers based on their inter-ests and passions, and also give them tips for how to develop healthy habits. To lead these sessions we will use alumni, parents, and community members. Top-ics include: What to expect at College, Healthy Lifestyles Topics (Self-Esteem
and Potential, Time Management, Work-Life Balance, Mindfulness and Medita-tion), Practical Life Skills (Finance 101, Applying for Jobs and Internships, Paying for College, Living on Your Own), and Careers and what to expect after college. We are excited for this wonderful oppor-tunity for our seniors!! If you are interest-ed in helping expand this exciting program for other classes, please contact [email protected]!
Thank you to everyone who attended the Aug. 18th recruitment meeting. Registra-tion for both 2017 tours (England & NYC) is now closed as both tours are FULL! However registration for Summer 2018: Italy & Greece is still OPEN, and until Sept. 30th there is a $200 discount for early enrollment! Please consider taking advantage of the early registration offer to reserve your seat, lock in the cheapest price, and allow for maximum fundraising. Both of the 2017 tours filled up and have a waiting list, so we want everyone who is potentially interested in 2018 to have the opportunity to partici-pate. For more information on the tour and how to register please visit www.uhstravelclub.com or email Ms. Meg Tully at [email protected]. Ms. Sheets & Ms. Tully will be contacting fami-lies registered for the 2017 tours within the next week with information about upcoming student and parent meetings for the England & NYC trips. Also, please follow us on Facebook (UHS Travel Club) and Instagram (@uhstravelclub)!
