DN-SR Day/Night Video Camera

Recent technological advances in the manufacturing ofultra low-light color CCD chips are allowing thesevideo cameras to edge into the field of night vision.Through the use of Integration or �AutomaticExposure Enhancement� the �DN-SR camera willautomatically, through the use of an on-boardcomputer; select the correct exposure rates from ¼ ofa second to 1/10,000 of a second to produce a perfectimage from the ambient lighting.

These images are vivid color during daylight as well asmost of the night. A power zoom range of 1x to 72x isstandard and a 2x to 144x zoom range is optional. Asensor within the camera automatically switches overand refocuses in a infrared sensitive mode when there is little or no light. Large-area infrared panel illuminatorsare now automatically activated as well as arming IR laser illuminators for spot lighting long-range targets.

These momentarily activated laser illuminators allow thecamera to clearly image objects at ranges beyond 2kilometers in complete darkness. As light once againbecomes available, the camera automatically switches backand refocuses to full color day surveillance.

The price of the new DN-SR color camera is about athird of the cost of other day/night intensifier based systems.

The DN-SR-1 is equipped with a 1x to 72x power zoomlens, the Model DN-SR-2 is equipped with a 2x to 144x powerzoom lens. The Stealth 301" camera is available with a 60watt infrared panel illuminator or remotely controlledlong-range infrared laser illuminators.

The Eagle-Vision EV-100 Multi Focal Length Optical System is a fully motorized, parfocusing; microprocessor controlledMaksutov Cassegrain Catadioptric Optical system with a clear aperture of 178 mm and a base focal length of 2400mm at F/13.5. It is the most rugged and sophisticated long range surveillance lens available in the medium aperturemarket today. It is able to read license plates at 2.5 km and identify ships at 20 km. It is available in both apermanent site fully integrated system or a rapid deployment stand-alone configuration for mounting on customersupplied equipment. Its optional accessories give it versatility and usefulness that can be customized to meet anyindividual requirement. It will have state of the art electronics based on the Pentium processor and will be modulardesigned for easy upgrades. Each unit will come with hardware that will allow it to be controlled locally from a laptop computer's Com port or modem for longer distances Tele-communication. The software will be a Windows95/98 and Visual Basic based platform. The keyboard and mouse will be used to access the command menus.

The EV-100 system comes equipped with high resolution video camera, PAL or NTSC with C mount lens thread andsupport CCD formats, Wireless 50 Km Video Link, mAST 9 meters . The system is equipped with five selectable focallengths and filters. The internal optical components and baffling system have been designed to maximize lighttransmission and minimize all optical aberrations to increase overall system performance to unprecedented 1/6 wavePV minimum. The internal mechanics allow this unit to tolerate high G loads while maintaining boresight accuracyat each focal length. The enhanced mechanics provide for a rapid focal length and focus transition when in the Parfocal mode, generally not to exceed 1 second. Long Range Surveillance Camera

The LR surveillance camera was designed to fulfil a requirement for a low maintenance, powerful, yet relatively light, camera system which would operate day and night. The camera can be fitted with a variety of motorised zoom lenses including 27X with extenders, 18X and 16X. The compact design enables the overall length of the camera to be only 71cm long and 150mm diameter, regardless of which lens is selected. An optional remote control decoder can be fitted into the rear of the camera housing. During the day the camera operates as a colour camera. As the light falls the camera will switch to monochrome. As the light falls further the intensifier section switches in to the optical path and the camera operates as a 3rd Generation system. The camera can be fitted with a wiper and pan/tilt mounting base plate. The receiver to drive the camera processes serial information from a dedicated keyboard or PC. A hand held wireless remote controller is also available which well control the camera as well as a pan/tilt unit Purpose designed control systems for mast mounted systems are also available. The unit has been developed over a number of years to provide the systems integrator with a robustand reliable remote control system which can be used with virtually any Electro-Optical system. The on-board processor can be readily programmed to personalise the control functions for specific EOsystems. The CCB includes 4 analogue input channels which are digitised to 12 bits to enable positionfeedback to be monitored. This enables EO systems to perform autonomously after the operator has taught it a sequence, either by keyboard or via a computer. Up to 8 preset positions can be stored foreach channel. 7 standard 1amp relays allow for clean contact switching, 12vdc switching or 28vdc switching.Typically these are used for pan/tilt plus lens functions, but can be used to change over fields of view inThermal Imagers or Multi-Focal Length optical systems etc. Variable speed motors are taken care of by the 2 PWM servo drivers which enable variable speedcontrol of 12vdc or 24vdc motors. The unit has been designed to interface with common standards and can be used as a terminatedRS422/485 receiver or part of a loop system. Different protocols can be accommodated in software, forexample CANBUS for vehicle or NMEA0183 for marine applications. When used in combined control systems, e.g. wireless and cable, the PCB will automatically cut onesystem connection when the second is connected, enabling a wireless system to automatically bedisabled if an umbilical cable is connected. The wiper unit and washer unit are accessories for the LR sealed camera system and the SR Mil Spec camera. They can also be fitted to any standard camera When fitted to a cylindrical camera the wiper is attached by stainless steel bands. On rectangular housings the wiper is attached by 4 mounting screws by screws. The nozzle for the washer unit fixes to the wiper mounting plate, or the nozzle can be directly attached to the wiper blade. generation system. The wiper shaft is double sealed with ‘O’ rings. The Britannia 2666 DC pan/tilt unit is perfect for mobile or mast mounted surveillance systems. The mounting platform can be changed to provide side mounting for sensors and a top mounted laser rangefinder. The unit will operate from 19-33vdc and a 12vdc option is available. A built in telemetry board enables the pan/tilt to be controlled via a serial link, with control via the Britannia sensor control panel or direct from a PC. An ‘up the coax control’ board is also available. Preset potentiometers provide positional feedback to a repeatability of 0.2 degrees. The in built controller allows 8 presets, software end stops, search patterns etc to be stored. Special to purpose software can be installed to meet any operational requirement, including a fast slew speed reverting to slow variable speed when the sensors are in the target quadrant. The mounting platform can be modified to take side loaded sensors and a laser rangefinder. The 2666 has been fully tested for shock, vibration, icing, rain, temperature, EMC etc. To enable stowage during a power failure, an option is to have removable pins which enable the pan/tilt to be manually moved in azimuth and elevation. For occasions when the vehicle is not level, an optional base plate for the unit allows remote adjustment of up to ? 10 degrees to level the positioner.
