USIBA Nationals RFP, 2

Thank you for your interest in hosting a USIBA National tournament.

USIBA, the United States Intercollegiate Boxing Association, is a non-profit organization dedicated to the development of college boxing in the United States. USIBA is an affiliated member of USA Boxing, the national governing body for amateur boxing in the United States.

Each spring USIBA hosts a national championship bringing in student-boxers from 4-year colleges and universities from across the United States.

Competitive bids will include facilities, services, and value-in-kind donations to create a successful event for the hosting college or university.

History of USIBA National Championships 2020 — Georgia Tech 2016 — California State, Northridge 2019 — Syracuse University 2015 — University of Michigan 2018 — University of Illinois 2014 — University of Miami 2017 — Virginia Military Institute 2013 — University of San Francisco

For college boxers, the annual national championship is an opportunity to compete against the best college boxers in the country, as well as network with other clubs to organize friendly exchanges during the next school year. USIBA offers three divisions for both women and men student-boxers: beginner, novice, and open divisions, across more than a dozen weight categories.

The USIBA national competition lasts 3 days, bringing in approximately 160 student-boxers, 40 coaches, 20 officials, and several administrators from across the U.S.

Hosting has many advantages: no travel required for the host team, more fans than other school teams, fundraising from concessions/gate, building interest in the club, etc.

This Request for Proposal (RFP) outlines the minimum information to be submitted in a proposal, as well as USIBA’s expectations of the host for a successful national championship event. The USIBA Board has pared down the requirements to host a national tournament. There is no bid fee. However hosting does require planning, organization, and a large number of volunteers.

General Venue Requirements Competition venue must be contained in one location, in one room, with adequate floor space to meet the minimum requirements for a Field of Play, including

• two boxing rings, officials’ tables on all sides of each ring, and a minimum 16’ between each ring (rings must be set up the day before competition begins)

• microphone for ring announcer • internet and electricity at ringside • tables and chairs for participating teams, along with adequate space for boxers and coaches

to wrap hands and warm up • seating for spectators • space for title sponsor merchandise, gloving table, video live stream, & team warmup • free parking or ability to purchase discounted parking passes • ability to store gloves and other equipment arriving prior to start of competition • welcome/event signage
