Map of The UKThe UK is an Island and is situated in the Atlantic Ocean northwest of continental Europe. The UK is surrounded the North Sea on the east, the English Chunnel on the south, and the Atlantic Ocean and the Irish Sea to the west. The most important cities of Britain are Manchester, Bristol and Nottingham. The UK includes four nations and one State. Great Britain is composed of Wales, England, Scotland, London and Northern Ireland. The south of Ireland is governed by a president and the north of Ireland is governed by a monarchy. The south of Ireland is divided from the north of Ireland because there was a civil war. South Ireland isn’t part of the UK because it is independent. The capital of Scotland is Edinburgh.The capital of England is London. Cardiff is the capital of Wales. Belfast is the capital of Northern Ireland. English Chunnel is composed of the union of the two words: English Channel + Tunnel.English Chunnel joins the France with the UK. This Tunnel passes under the sea.

The name of the British flag, is

“Union Flag” or, also, “Union Jack”.

It is formed by the union of the flags of the countries that are part of the UK.

The MonarchyThe Monarch is Queen Elizabeth II today.In the past there was the absolute monarchy it consisted in an unilimited power of the Queen or the King. The Queen carries out significant constitutional functions, the Queen also as a focus for National unityk, presiding at cerimonial occasions, visiting local communities and representing Britain around the world.The Queen is also head of the Commonwealth and has important roles to play in other organisations, including the Armed Forces and the Church of England.

The British Royal Family's surname is Windsor. They changed their name from Saxe-Coburg-Gotha to Windsor in 1917. The Royal family are members of the Church of England. The Royal family can only be Church of England. Roman Catholics are barred from succession under the Act of Settlement (1701). The Queen has 8 grandchildren.

Queen Elizabeth II was born on 21 April, 1926 at 17 Bruton Street, London. Her birthday is officially celebrated in Britain on the second Saturday of June each year. The day is referred to as “the Trooping of the Colour”, the official name is “the Queen’s Birthday. The Queen lives at Buckingham Palace in London.

The Trooping the Colour ( is a ceremony performed by regiments of the Commonwealth and the British Army . 's A tradition of British infantry dating from the seventeenth century , whose origins are even older. On the battlefields in fact the flags of the regiment were used as a point collection for soldiers in the confusion of combat. Consequently, for easy recognition , the standard bearers marched in front of the deployed troops with banners.Since 1748 Trooping the Colour has also marked the celebration of the official birthday of the Sovereign of the United Kingdom. It is held in London annually on the second Saturday of June at Horse Guards Parade , near St. James 's Park. On this occasion are also made public the new awarded with honorary titles. Attending the ceremony, in addition to the British royal family, official guests as Heads of State or Government of the countries of the Commonwealth and the paying public or not. The event is also known as The Queen 's Birthday Parade ( " Parade of the birthday of the Queen" ) and is broadcast live by the BBC.
