The New Zealand experience

New Zealand is a similar size to

Japan and Great Britain, but with a

population of just over four million

you get a sense of space and

freedom that’s found in few other

places. Our unique and dynamic

culture reflects Māori, Pacific

Island, African, European and Asian

influences. New Zealanders are

friendly, welcoming people who

tend to be relaxed, practical and

value individuality.

Not many countries in the world

can boast such a combination

of stunning beaches, lush forests,

dramatic mountain ranges and

rolling farmlands. Because of its

size, exploring New Zealand is easy

and there are a huge variety of

activities on offer.

National parks and marine reservesExplore one of our many national parks to see stunning native forest and wildlife. And our marine reserves are packed with sea life for excellent diving and snorkling opportunities.

MountainsNew Zealand’s many mountain ranges are an iconic part of the landscape. They provide dramatic scenery and world-class ski resorts that are often cheaper than those in Europe and North America!

Adventure activitiesNew Zealand is famous for its adventure activities and adrenaline junkies are spoilt for choice. Try your hand at bungee jumping, skydiving, jet boating or mountain biking.

History and cultureour rich cultural heritage is evident in place names, architecture, art and local customs. Visit a local Māori marae (meeting place) or participate in a hangi (traditional method of cooking food in the earth) to learn more about our culture.

Cities and townsNew Zealand’s cities and towns are buzzing with entertainment and culture. From fascinating museums to world-class restaurants there is something for everyone.

New Zealand educationNew Zealand’s education system is based on the distinguished British system. government-funded institutions like Unitec offer excellent facilities, academic teaching staff and resources. globally, these institutions rank very highly and our qualifications are recognised throughout the world.

“I’ve had a great experience at Unitec. Although the learning style was really different to my school back home, after getting accustomed to the new environment, I realised that their approach is actually very effective. Also, the campus is spread out with beautiful landscape in between the buildings. Studying abroad is a good opportunity to be immersed in another culture and it allowed me to practise my English every day. ”
