Beauty and the Beast
For the Koreans, appearance is very
important. They believe that good looking will
assure them of having a wonderful life, including finding a job and having
a bright future.
So, Korean parents will give their child money to have a cosmetic plastic
surgery.
We could say that for Korean people, being
a beauty means having everything, and being a beast
means having nothing.
Do you agree? Share your
thoughts with your classmates.
Now, we will show you some pictures, and these pictures
are all adapted from movies.
Please separate the class into 4 groups,
and each group needs to discuss the following
questions and share their thoughts with
other groups.
During viewing these pictures, think about
the following questions and discuss with your
group members.
•What do these movies have in common?
•What do you think those directors want to tell us?
• If you have no idea about any of these movies, discuss about the sentence: “It’s beauty that killed the beast.”—adapted from King Kong
