Standard occupations classification is the stereotypical class of person, and it advertises what they think would suit the group best. Why might we group or classify audiences in this manner? Because due to the class of person, area lived in, they might be interested in different holidays, activates, clothes etc. How is audience research used in relation to new media products? (e.g. rating, BARB, focus groups, questionnaires) The media use the tv and banners to advertise. They also use celebrity’s to capture the age range, and then advertise the product.
