UNIT 23 SCHEME OF WORK This scheme of work supports the teaching of OCR National Unit 23 Creating Video. Briefing Notes for Staff The unit counts towards a first certificate combined with Unit 1 (One GCSE) The students need to analyse and evaluate existing clips before writing a brief about the video they will edit. They will need a video clip and audio files provided for them to be able to produce the final product. Evidence of editing and testing will be required. The moderator will watch the completed video during the moderation process whilst checking the paper folders. Pupils will need to take regular backups and save the movie maker project regularly to avoid losing the project due to unforeseen problems. Annotated print screens will be required as evidence and witness statements can be used where needed. A. Briefing Notes for Staff

B. LEARNING ACTIVITIES

The SOW has been broken down into tasks as opposed to lessons. A task may be shorter or longer then a single lesson and lesson plans should reflect this. A printer, paper, a word processor and Movie Maker must be available at all times.

5. Task 4 50 mins Learn to edit an existing video clip to make it more suitable for the audience.

Copy the video clip to user area. Import, trim and split the video to approx 3 mins but no less than 45 seconds.Ensure video is copied into Unit 23 folder and project is saved regularly in the same folder.

11. Task 10. 30 mins Action the suggested improvements.

Pupils are to return to the project and action any improvements.Make movie again once changes have been made.

C. Final Assessment

All teachers will need to assess each folder and apply a grade. There must then be a moderation meeting with all teachers to achieve a consistent moderation of each project folder. Evidence of moderation must be made available to the visiting moderator.
