Never ending story synopsis
This is a book bursting at the seams with imaginative description of a wacky fantasyworld where the strangest things happen to even strangest creatures, for a visual artist
it is a real treat to have this book as inspiration as Ende portrays such a believableworld, what I like about this book is the fact that no mater how silly or outrageous an
object or thing described in the book is, it will always have some sort of purpose in the
world. That for a concept artist is a brilliant thing because the more you understand anobject the easier it is to draw.
Many things happened in 1970sThat could be said to have inspired Ende, specifically I
think in 1979 the closest pictures of Jupiter's rings were captured by the NASAsVoyager, this discovery of new worlds is a potent example of man venture into the
unknown just like Bastions journey through Fantastica

Scene break down
Scene 1 the dark forest camp fire
Excerpt 1 conveys a old dark creaking forest and a campfire, Iloved the idea of this even though somewhat clich, I cant help but
imagine the way the light from a fie will interact with the texture ofthe old trees, rocks and bushes around it. Also I could add a small
amount of characters design into the mix as a few I gatheredaround the fire.

Scene breakdown
Scene 2 the desert of colour
The next excerpt will be a tricky one as its borderline crazy, a multi
coloured desert landscape, I want to stay away from a really trippy
colourful mess and maybe add some structures into it to make thedunes more dynamic, also I want to try and make the colours look
realistic.

By far the most exciting image of all, the magnificent Silver CityDepicted in the second excerpt, I want to stay away from the
generic cityscape for my final image, although this may prove tobe the most difficult, I want to create a scene that actually shows
a specific part of the city.

Essay introduction.Investigation into the visual concepts and production design of iRobot
The concept artist plays an important role in the film industry, although sometimes undermined, he or she is task withcreating the first visual expression of the directors production. Concepts are used to inspire people and intrigue their
imagination, by giving them a glimpse of what the final product could potentially look like. In this essay I will analysecritically the visual concepts and production work of director Alex Proyas iRobot (2004). Research into the iRobot crewhas shown me the key concept artist for this production who are Andy Chung, Edwin Natividad and Stephen Martiniere.
Their blogs an online portfolios will be used to illustrate this essay.
