In paint pigments, pure Yellow, pure Red, and pure Blue are the only hues that can't be created by mixing any other colors together
Yellow + Red = ORANGERed + Blue = VIOLET or PURPLEBlue + Yellow = GREEN
Yellow + Orange = YELLOW-ORANGERed + Orange = RED-ORANGERed + Violet = RED-VIOLETBlue + Violet = BLUE-VIOLETBlue + Green = BLUE-GREENYellow + Green = YELLOW-GREEN
Colour = Hue
• These are the family of twelve purest and brightest colors.– 3 Primary Colors – 3 Secondary Colors – 6 Tertiary Colors
• They form the full spectrum of colors which progress around the Primary Color Wheel in gradual increments
Altering Colours
• Every individual color on the Basic Color Wheel can be altered in two ways by Tinting and Shading
• Hue = colour
• Value – amount of black or white added
• Intensity: How bright the colours are (eg.
saturated)
Tinting – making lighter!
• A Tint is sometimes called a Pastel. Basically it's simply any color with white added.
Effects of Colour II
• Light colours reflect light
• Feel cooler
• Dark colours absorb light
• Feel warmer
