Unit 1 French Test  ­­ HOW TO PREPARE 

A. Be sure to take the PRE-TESTS for Lessons 1a, 1b and 1c (Don’t worry about the 1c culture)

1. Go to this link: www.emcp.com/irc 2. Choose World Languages, French, and T'Es Branche Level One. 3. Click on CHANGE LOGIN AND Login using the generic login information for everyone: Username: French Password: teb2014 4. Click on the arrow to the left of the Unit 1 folder in the left column. Highlight the Pretests folder under Unit 1. Click on the word Pre-tests above the right column and the links for Pretests 1a, 1b and 1c should appear. B. Make sure you have reviewed the vocabulary on p. 48, p. 28, and the yellow box vocabulary for each of the three lessons. Specific Test information:

Reading and responding -- 14 points Reading 1 4 multiple choice (1 point each) 2 short answer questions (1 is 2 points, 1 is 4 points) Reading 2 4 true or false questions (1 pt each) Listening -- 18 points

a. Listen to the conversation, then complete the sentence logically based on what you heard. You will hear the conversation twice. (5 points - 5 items)

b. Listen to the mini-dialogues and select the image that goes with each one. One of the images does NOT match any dialogue. You will hear the dialogues twice. (5 points - 5 items)

c. Listen to the dialogue twice. Then circle the letter of the option that correctly completes the sentence. (8 points - 8 items)

Multiple choice - 48 points

a. Complete the conversation by choosing the letter of the most appropriate response. (10 points - 10 items)

b. Indicate whether the statement is an accurate caption for the illustration by writing oui or non. (10 points - 5 items)

c. Indicate whether the exchange is formel or informel. (5 points - 5 items

d. Speaking preparation - Indicate whether the statement is true or false. (5 points)

e. Culture - Indicate whether the statement is true or false. (13 points) Writing - 20 points

A. Marie is a French-Canadian exchange student who is spending this year at your school. Write her an e-mail in French to introduce yourself. Tell her a few things about yourself, ask her how she is, and then invite her to do something with you. Be sure to say good-bye too. You should write five sentences. (10 points)

B. It is the first day of school. Students and instructors are meeting for the first time. Create an introductory conversation in French among the people in the illustration. You should write five sentences. (10 points)
