Innovative Use of UniSim Design for industry Applications2012 Competition for University & College Students

Honeywell Users Group Americas 

Students will use the Honeywell UniSim Design Suite to create a process design to solve a critical plant business

issue. Students must demonstrate creativity, innovation, and detail the benefits derived from their solution.

Awards and Benefits for the Winner & Sponsor 

•  Paid attendance to the 36th Annual Honeywell Users Group Americas held in June 2012 in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. Includesregistration fee, transportation and accommodations.

•  The supervisor of the winning student(s) will be offered a Honeywell UniSim Design Training Course at one of the Honeywell

training centers and paid attendance to 2012 Honeywell Users Group.

Competition Rules

•  The HUG 2012 Americas competition is open to any student currently enrolled in an accredited college or university in the

United States, Canada, Central or South America.

•   A supervising or advising faculty member must sponsor each entry; faculty member must review and approve the student’sentry before it is submitted and affirm that the student wrote the paper him/herself.

•  The submitted abstract and presentation should highlight the problem solved using UniSim design, details of the experiment,describe why the approach is innovative, and the main benefits of the project.

•  The abstract and the presentation should be submitted in English and the winner will present at the Honeywell Users’ Groupmeeting in English.

•  The format for presentation is Microsoft PowerPoint. Please email a simple intent to participate at any time [email protected], and the Honeywell Users Group presentation template will then be provided.

•  Submission of the Microsoft PowerPoint presentation (no more than 20 slides) is due no later than April 20, 2012.

•   A jury of Honeywell and customer user experts will select one winner and one runner up.•  The abstract and submitted presentation should be e-mailed to [email protected] with the following information:

•  Subject line: University HUG 2012 UniSim Competition

•  Body of email: Student name(s)Student lead’s phone and email addressFaculty advisor’s name, title, phone and email addressName and address of college/university

•  If your school does not have a UniSim Design Suite, Honeywell sponsors an Academic Program for the UniSim Design Suitefree of charge. In North America contact Peter De Jonge, [email protected] for information. In Central and South America contact Raul Ohaco, [email protected] 

• The cost of an entry visa if needed will be reimbursed, but the author is responsible for making arrangements

•  Travel, accommodations and conference fees will be waived for two persons. Typically this is the winning student plus anadvising faculty member. If a team wins, then conference registration fees will be waived for all team members, however transportation and accommodations will need to be paid by the additional team members.

•  The winner will be announced on the Honeywell competition web page in May 2012, including the names of the winning entry,author, faculty sponsor, and university. Honeywell retains the right to publish or distribute the winning and runner-up papers

and photos through any electronic and physical form.

•  The winner is expected to attend 2012 HUG Americas and present his/her paper. Prize will be forfeited for non-attendance.

•  Participation implies full acceptance of stated rules. For situations not covered herein, the Honeywell jury will rule. The juryretains the right to declare the contest void if the submitted papers do not fulfill the expectations, and in all cases the jury’sdecision is final.
