Hazards are the cause of natural disasters. As well as being detrimental to the environment, natural disasters lead to both nancial and human loss. This graphic will increase your understanding of the affect of natural hazards in sparking natural disasters, and the resulting affect of these natural disasters on our environment. 14 hazards are highlighted. First, the total numbers of disaster events that have occurred from each hazard are broken down. Then the people killed from the resulting disasters are broken down by hazard. Then the people affected from the resulting disasters are broken down by hazard. Then the economic damage caused by the disasters resulting from each hazard are broken down. High-lighted with the mortality, people affected, and the economic damage are the top 10 disasters for each hazard. This allows you to notice patterns in the loca-tions where disasters occur, as well as the severity of a single natural disaster event.
