SafeWorkingHeightTablesNotes

Tablesarebasedonamaximumheightof30m,heightsabovethisarepossiblebuttheseshouldbereferredtoGeorgeRoberts (NW) Ltd Technical ServicesDepartmentoracompetenttemporaryworksengineer.

The User Guide utilises wind loadingin the preparation of its safe workingheighttablesforthestairtowers.Thesetables are limited to “S” values above20 and below 40. Where localisedconditions result in “S” values outsideof these parameters the wind velocitypressures may either be lower thanor exceed those utilised within thecalculations fromwhich the tables arederived. Stair towers located on sitesat the edges of cliffs or escarpments, incoastal locationsortotallstructuressurrounded by other tall structureswhich may cause funnelling of thewind pressure are all susceptible tosignificant increases in wind pressuredue to local effects. In these instancesit is recommended that advice issought from the George Roberts (NW)Ltd Technical Service Department or acompetenttemporaryworksengineer.

Ifthesiteis;atleast2Kminsideatownterrain, is shielded by buildings within100m and the average height of thesurrounding buildings are 5m or morethenitisclassifiedasa“Town”site.Allother locations are considered to be“Country”.

The safe height tables and sectioncapacities contained within the UserGuidearebaseduponliveloadingfromtheintendeduseonly.Additionalloadingmay accrue on the working platformsor components as a consequence ofatmospheric precipitations such asice, snow, sand or dust. The workingprocesses may also cause debris suchas sand, grit or demolition debris toaccumulate on the working platformof components which will increasethe live loading above that allowedfor within the live loading.Where thisis seen to occur or is know will occurfurtherguidanceshouldbesoughtfromtheGeorgeRoberts (NW)LtdTechnicalServices Department or a competent temporary works designer which mayresult in a down grading of the LoadClassforthescaffold.

GeneralNotes

PriortoerectionallUniscaffstairtowercomponents should be inspected fordamage by the erectors. DO NOT usedamaged components within theerectedtower.

The system utilises fully galvanisedcomponents which will be suitablefor storage in exposed areas andgenerally the components should bemaintenance free. Should there be aloss of the galvanising layer such thatcorrosiondepositsstarttooccurorthecomponentsaredamagedduringuseorstoragethenthecomponentshouldbereturnedtoGeorgeRoberts(NW)Ltdforreplacement.
