Summer Fun Raffle

The  TCC  Summer  Fine  Arts  and  Cra2s  Camp  for  children,  ages  8-­‐18,  will  take  place  at  the  Thompson  Community  Center  in  Union  from  Monday,  July  21st  through  Friday  July  25th.  Area  arFsts  are  sharing  their  talents  with  interested  students.  The  camp  is  a  low  cost  or  not  cost  day  camp  that  provides  breakfast  and  lunch,  7:30-­‐5:00  each  day  and  a  rich  creaFve  environment  to  explore  the  fabulous  world  of  art.  Email  for  applicaFon:[email protected]

UNION  REC  SWIMMING  LESSONS  AT  BEAVER  LODGE

 Union  Rec  will  again  offer  swimming  lessons  this  summer  at  Beaver  Lodge.  These  lessons  are  open  to  current  residents  of  Union  OR  members  of  Beaver  Lodge.  Each  session  will  consist  of  6  lessons,  swimmers  will  be  assigned  level  1-­‐4  depending  on  age  and  ability.  Session  I:  Tues  &  Thurs  starFng  July  1-­‐17th      Session  II:  Tues  &  Thurs  starFng  July  22  –  Aug  7th  Cost  per  session  -­‐  $16  for  Union  residents  $36  for  members  of  Beaver  Lodge  who  are  not  Union  residents.Space  is  limited  and  is  on  a  first  come  first  serve  basis.  To  sign-­‐up,  or  FMI,  contact  Clairlynn  at  785-­‐2287

Event: Summer Reading Kick-OffLocation: Vose Library, 392 Common Road, Union, MEDate: Saturday, June 21stTime: 10amDescription:Get your Summer Reading started with a bang! This year the Summer Reading Program celebrates the science theme “Fizz! Boom! Read!” Come to the library June 21 to kick off this year with games, activities, and snacks.Kids can sign up for Summer Reading and learn how to earn chances to win a bicycle! More reading means more chances! Our Bikes for Books Program is sponsored by the Union Masons. Six bicycles, complete with helmets, will be given away—two large, two medium, and two small ones with training wheels. Children from birth to eighteen can sign up at the library, set reading goals, keep their reading logs, and earn prizes as well as bicycle chances. Keep an eye out for events throughout the summer and be sure to come to the special Finale event on August 26th, when we will draw the bicycle winners. Hope to see you there!

Summer Running is here!! Wednesday nights at 6:00 PM, starting June 25th, at the MVHS/MMS cross-country trail. This will be for nine weeks through the summer. Many different age brackets and divisions.8+ under run 1 lap (1 mile)9-14 run 2 laps (2 miles) 15+ run a 5K every weekCome oner week, come all weeks! Come walk or run with your family. $15/ person for the whole nine weeks.

AuctionThe Medomak Valley Boys Basketball teams will be hosting an auction on Saturday June 21, 2014 at the Medomak Middle School. All proceeds will benefit the Freshmen, JV, and Varsity players. The teams are raising money for shooting shirts and summer and fall league play. Auction preview and cook-out from 5:00 to 6:00 pm. Auction starts at 6:00 pm. Tanglewood & Blueberry Cove Summer Camp Registration is Open & filling fast:

June 22-August 15!

There’s an adventure to be had for campers of all ages at Tanglewood and Blueberry Cove! All programs are centered on ecology education where campers master skills through hands-on discovery while having fun with friends and building self-confidence. Residential campers ages 8-14 spend days swimming, hiking, practicing wilderness skills and archery, creating through art and drama, exploring ponds, rivers and the ocean, sailing, on the challenge course, experimenting with science, gardening, and eating delicious home-cooked meals. Evenings wrap up each night with wicked evening programs. Day camps for 4-12 year olds nurture a child's natural sense of wonder and imagination and are specially developed for younger campers, emphasizing natural exploration through creative play. Adventure Trips increase campers’ confidence in the outdoors as they learn practical camping skills while exploring Maine's beautiful woods and waterways through backpacking, island camping, canoeing, and natural history exploration for youth aged 11-17. Seeking  Parade  Par<cipants  for  Waldoboro  Day  Parade

Saturday  June  21st,  9:30  a.m.Medomak  Valley  Land  Trust  is  looking  for  families  to  join  us  in  this  year’s  Waldoboro  Day  Parade.  Our  ‘float’  is  a  working  watershed,  complete  with  a  river,  farmers,  clammers,  boaters,  wildlife,  fishermen,  etc.  We  have  some  costumes  available,  but  you’re  more  than  welcome  to  make/use  your  own.    The  float  is  always  a  crowd  pleaser  and  a  fun  way  to  kick-­‐off  Waldoboro  Day.    If  you  and  your  children  wish  to  parFcipate,  or  want  addiFonal  informaFon,  please  contact  Liz  at  832-­‐5570  or  [email protected].  Those  who  want  to  parFcipate  in  the  parade  should  be  sure  to  arrive  at  the  VFW  by  9:30  a.m.

The Waldoboro Recreation Department has received its summer supply of discount passes to Funtown/Splashtown USA, Aquaboggan Water Park and Water Country in Portsmouth, NH.

Funtown/Splashtown "Big Combo" day passes for those 48" inches and taller are available for $27.00 each, a savings of $9.00! Splashtown "only" passes are available for $20.00, a $5.00 savings.

Water Country single day passes for those 48" inches and taller are available for $30.00 each, a savings of $7.99!

Aquaboggan's "General Passes" are available for $15.00 each, a savings of $5.00!
