Unified ReportingOVERVIEW: Emory University uses most of the PeopleSoft reporting functionality i.e. Query, nVision, SQR, Crystal Reports and BI Publisher. In addition, the Emory Business Intelligence (EBI) is another tool that the Compass users have available to them. The EBI tool is becoming the preferred method by which to retrieve data from Compass for campus end users.

When Compass went live in 2009, hundreds of queries, many nVision and Crystal/BI publisher reports were developed for users. In the ensuing years, many more have been added. Based upon comments from each Listening Tour session, users have expressed extreme frustration as to which query or report they should use to obtain the data or information they need.

Currently between the production and reporting databases there are:

16,073 Private Queries - 7,335 Users can create, modify and save private queries 2,694 Public Queries - 168 Users can create, modify and save public queries 636 nVision Report formats 121 Custom Emory reports (non-nVision)

RECOMMENDATION: The Reporting team’s approach for the upcoming upgrade is to: clean-up or archive the queries/reports no longer used; document the public queries/reports that are remaining; retrofit the remaining queries/reports for new PeopleSoft functionality or structure changes; then, create the new queries/reports needed to support the module business cases.
