It gives us immense pleasure to inform you that Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV)

Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal has implemented the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) Scheme for all its

undergraduate programs in Engineering, Pharmacy and Architecture from this session (2015) onwards.

CBCS has also incorporated some of the avant-garde reforms in the conduction of practical

examinations. It defines practical-component assessment under two heads - the first one is an institute-based

continuous internal assessment based on in-situ practical conduction, lab works, and activities followed by viva-

voce at the end of each lab slot. This will carry 80 percent of total weightage. The other is a ‘Unified Online

Practical Examination’ that carries assessment on the basis of an Online Multiple-Choice Questions Based

Examination to be organized de-centrally at the Institute level but to be controlled and monitored centrally by

the University. This component will comprise of 20 percent of the total weightage.

Salient features of ‘Unified Online Practical Examination’ are as follows:

1. This examination will be online and it will be a multiple choice questions based

examination for the list of practicals as mentioned in Annexure A.

2. The duration of examination will be 45 Minutes and it will carry 40 multiple choice

questions based on aspects as mentioned in Annexure B.

3. University will conduct this examination on the same date and simultaneously at all the

centres all across the state.

4. In the first semester scheme, every course carries a total of FOUR SUBJECTS with

practical components hence this examination will carry 10 questions per subject thus a

total of 40 multiple choice questions divided over four sections for four distinct subjects.

(division of sections as described in Annexure C)

5. Examination will be conducted branch-wise and the questions will be derived

respectively from pool of subjects (as listed in annexure D) which have well-defined

practical components in the semester scheme of a particular branch.

4. Substitution / Transformation Exercises (Sentence Practice, Grammar Practice).

5. Reflection on the organization of sentence components (Word Order).

6. The use of vocabulary and grammar in fill-in-the-blanks exercises, which require students to analyze a

sentence in its entirety in order to place the correct word (The Right Word, Fill-in-the-Blanks). Matching

a word with its synonym, antonym or a related image (Word association, picture / Word Association).

PH110 Physics

1. To determine the wavelength of He-Ne Laser using diffraction grating (250 & 15,000 LPI).

2. To measure the Acceptance Angle & Numerical Aperture of an optical fibre using a LED Light source.

3. To determine the radius of curvature of Plano-convex lens by using Newton’s ring apparatus.

4. To determine the wavelength of different colours of white light using diffraction grating by spectrometer.

5. To determine the resolving power of diffraction grating.

6. To determine the resolving power of Telescope.

7. To determine the refractive index of material of Prism using spectrometer.

8. To determine the Acceleration due to Gravity in the Laboratory using Bar Pendulum and to estimate the

Radius of Gyration of the Bar-Pendulum.

9. To determine the Diameter of a Thin Wire using the Phenomena of Diffraction using Beam of Light from

a Helium-Neon Laser.

10. To study the V-I characteristics of Solar Cell at different luminous intensity, V-I characteristics of photo

diode.

CY110 Chemistry/ CY111 Chemistry-I

1. To find the flash and fire points of given oil sample by Abel’s closed cup apparatus.

2. To find the flash and fire points of a given oil sample by Cleveland’s open cup apparatus.

3. To find the flash and fire points of given oil sample by Pensky Marten’s closed cup apparatus.

4. To determine the effect of temperature on the viscosity of the given oil using Redwood Viscometer No 1.

5. To determine the effect of temperature on the viscosity of the given oil using Redwood Viscometer No 2.

6. To determine the strength of unknown solution of CuSO4 in gm/L by Iodometric titration using Sodium

thiosulphate (Hypo) as an intermediate solution, KI as a source of iodine and starch as an adsorption

indicator. The concentration of known solution of CuSO4 is N/40.

7. To determine the strength of unknown solution of Ferrous Ammonium Sulphate (FAS) in g/L by redox

titrations using potassium dichromate as an intermediate solution and diphenylamine as an internal

indicator. The concentration of known solution of Ferrous Ammonium Sulphate (FAS) is N/40.

8. To determine the strength of unknown solution of Ferrous Ammonium Sulphate (FAS) in g/L by redox

titrations using potassium dichromate as an intermediate solution and potassium ferricyanide as an

external indicator. The concentration of known solution of Ferrous Ammonium Sulphate (FAS) is N/40.

9. To determine total hardness of given water sample in ppm in terms of CaCO3 equivalents by

complexometric titration using EDTA solution as an intermediate and Eriochrome Black-T (EBT) as an

internal metal ion indicator. The strength of standard hard water of CaCO3 is 1.0 g/L.

10. To determine the type and extent of alkalinity present in given water sample in mg/L by neutralization

titration against N/50 H2SO4 solution using phenolphthalein and methyl orange as internal indicators.

EC110 Fundamentals of Electronics Engineering

1. Study of electronic components- active & passive, Electronic Instruments: CRO, Function generator,

Power Supply, Multi-meter, IC tester. Solder practice.
