UNH Cooperative Extension Internship Communitybased Habitat Restoration Summer 2015 The UNH Cooperative Extension Communitybased Habitat Restoration Internship is an opportunity for a UNH undergraduate to work with staff from the University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension and New Hampshire Sea Grant on the following initiatives: Community engagement for habitat restoration projects Inventory community, school and municipal groups in Hampton and Seabrook, NH, and Salisbury and Newburyport, MA Assist in developing and delivering content to schools regarding the habitat restoration projects Recruit and maintain communications with stakeholders (e.g., newsletters, emails, phone calls) Participate in project team meetings, stakeholder workshops, and technical advisory board meetings Habitat restoration fieldwork Colead restoration workdays with both adult and student volunteers Collect field data to monitor restoration success and answer scientific questions Assist in training citizen scientists in field data collection methods WHO SHOULD APPLY? Undergraduate students enrolled in a degree program at the University of New Hampshire with an interest in working with a variety of groups to achieve coastal habitat restoration goals. REQUIREMENTS Ability to work independently and communicate with diverse audiences Ability to draft outreach materials in multiple media Participation in project meetings Participation in project evaluation activities Students must supply their own transportation to the UNH Sea Grant office in Lee, NH and be able to transport themselves to field sites as necessary. TIMING AND FUNDING The internship period spans an eightweek period between June and August 2015 (the exact timing is negotiable).
