    Rhode Island will look to improve to 4-0 at home whenit hosts New Hampshire. UNH is the Rams th-mostcommon opponent, with the two teams having met 112previous times on the hardwood.     143 HIgHFor the rst time in school history, Rhode Island will have two 7-ooters on the roster in senior Will Martell (7-0) andreshman Blake Vedder who at 7-3, is the tallest player to don the Keaney Blue.

    WeLcome BackPreston Murphy, a standout guard or URI rom 1995-99, begins his rst season as an assistant coach with his alma materHe scored 1,218 career points, ranking third all-time on the teams 3-pointers made list (181). Over his our years, higraduating class won 86 games and advanced to the postseason all our seasons (three NCAA, one NIT).

    BaskervILLe joINs ramsAnthony Baskerville, a member o Rhode Islands ootball program, has joined the Runnin Rams or the remainder o theseason. A native o Newark, N.J., the 5-11, 185 lb. guard was a two-sport student-athlete at Dean College in WorcesteMass. Last year, in 16 games, Baskerville averaged 12.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, 7.9 assists and 2.8 steals. During th2008-09 season at Dean, he posted averages o 13.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 9.9 assists and 1.8 steals in 12 games. Hewas URIs top receiver, pulling in a team-high 48 catches or 500 yards and three touchdowns.

    2011 aIms to Be WINNINgest cLassRhodys senior class, led by Marquis Jones and Will Martell, are aiming to become the all-time winningest our-yeaclass in school history. From 2007-10, the Rams have won 70 games. Last year, the senior class o Keith Cothran andLamonte Ulmer set a new mark with 89 wins over a our-year span. Buchanan is a 6-3,195 lb. guard rom Kalamazoo, Mich. Last year as a junior,Buchanan averaged 13.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 9.0 assistsat Kalamazoo Central H.S. He helped lead head coach MichaelThomas Maroon Giants to a 27-1 record and the MichiganClass A state championship. He played with the King JamesAAU program.Burrell, a native o Albany, N.Y., is completinghis nal year o prep basketball or head coach Steve Ernst at

    Summit Christian Academy in Michigan. Last season, at St.Thomas More Prep in Connecticut, the athletic wing averaged15.0 points and 10 rebounds.     Delroy James scored 17 o his team-high 20 points in the second hal as Rhode Island dropped an83-75 decision at #5/4 Pittsburgh in the opening game o the 2010 2K Classic Beneting Coachesvs. Cancer. Rhody built as much as an eight-point lead in the rst hal on the Panthers, thanksto the hot outside shooting o Akeem Richmond and Nikola Malesevic. The sophomore duocombined to connect on 6-o-11 rom beyond the arc. URI led 36-28 ater a Will Martell jumper

    with 1:31 let in the rst hal. But Pittsburgh would score nine unanswered points to close outthe hal, take a 37-36 lead at the break. In the second hal, the Panthers connected on 6-o-8 tostart the second hal, but could not put away the Runnin Rams. James connected on his second3-pointer o the hal at the 12:02 mark, tying the ballgame at 53-53. A traditional three-pointplay with 5:08 let gave Pittsburgh its largest lead o the game - eight points - at 70-62. But a12-6 push over the next 3:27 - thanks to deep balls rom Malesevic and two rom James - made ita two-point game with 1:41 to go. Rhody had a chance to tie with a Richmond 3-point attempt,but did not convert the shot. Richmond ended with 16 points, while Malesevic added a career-high 13 points (4-6 3FG) o the bench. Daniel West, in his rst action as a Ram, tallied 10 assistsand three steals. Will Martell and Marquis Jones led URI with six rebounds apiece.

    Delroy James and Will Martell each registered a double-double as Rhode Island earned a 75-66victory over College o Charleston in the rst game o the Toledo subregional o the 2K SportsClassic Beneting Coaches vs. Cancer. Nikola Malesevic added 17 points o the bench. The twoteams were matched evenly on the oensive end to start the game. Tied at 9-9 at the 14:03mark, the Runnin Rams would score eight unanswered, thanks to 3-pointers rom Ben Eaves and

    Malesevic and a driving layup rom Marquis Jones. Rhody would lead 19-11 with 10:51 to playin the hal. The Cougars (2-2) would respond with an 11-2 push over the next 3:08, capped bya Jeremy Simmons jumper which made it 22-21 with 7:43 let. Rhody would lead 29-25 at thebreak. In the second hal, Rhody would not trail thanks to the play o James and Malesevic. Theduo shouldered the scoring load, combining or 31 o Rhodys 46 points. A James layup gave URIa nine-point advantage (36-27) with 18:22 to play, but C o C would not go away easily.     Delroy James logged the second 30-point game o his career as he nished with a game andseason-high 33 points to lead Rhode Island to a 74-68 victory over Drexel. Marquis Jones adde11 points and a team-high six rebounds and Will Martell added 10 points. Rhody struggleoensively in the early going as it did not score a basket until the 17:37 mark o the rst hal. ThRams got on track thanks to the hot shooting o James and Martell as they combined to score 1o URIs rst 21 points. During the rst 20 minutes no team lead by more than ve points. Rhody

    trailed 31-27 with 4:24 remaining until the break, but the Rams responded with a 9-2 run to closout the rst hal and take a 36-33 lead into the locker room. No team lead by more than threpoints in the rst ve minutes o the second hal. Drexel cut URIs lead to one on our separateoccasions, but could never take the lead. With just under 15 minutes to go in the game, Rhodybegan to make its move as it went on an 11-2 push to take a 53-43 lead with under 10 minuteto go in the game.     Delroy James scored 15 points - including the 1,000th o his Rhode Island career - as the RunninRams downed Davidson, 71-58. James scored his milestone bucket with 15:12 let in regulation,keying a 13-0 second hal run or Rhode Island. He also added nine rebounds, two assists, a blockand a steal in 35 minutes. Both teams started the game trading baskets, with neither the Ramsnor the Wildcats gaining more than a three-point advantage. Ater a Davidson 3-pointer made it9-6, Rhody would respond with a 18-3 push over the next 4:09. A Marquis Jones 3-point jumper

    capped the run and made the score 24-12 with 12:03 let in the hal. Davidson would close thegap over the next 7:30, outscoring Rhode Island, 22-11 and cutting the home teams lead to justone - at 34-33. But URI would respond.     Three Rams scored in double gures as Rhode Island used a strong deensive second hal to pullaway, 79-67, at Northeastern. Delroy James led all scorers with 25 points, while also pullingdown a game-high 10 rebounds to go along with three assists and our steals. Marquis Jonesconnected on 3-o-4 rom the perimeter, en route to scoring 15 points. Nikola Malesevic - in hisrst collegiate start - added 13 points and two assists. Northeastern started strong, taking an18-9 lead just ve minutes into the ballgame. But Rhody would settle down deensively and

    scored eight unanswered - capped by two Ben Eaves ree throws. The two teams traded basketsthe rest o the way, with ve ties and our lead changes. The Huskies led 38-35 with 2:16 let,but Rhody would close the hal with a James 3-pointer and driving layup by Malesevic, taking a40-38 edge at the break. In the second hal, the Runnin Rams began to pull away, ater a MarquisJones trey as the shot clock expired gave them a 51-44 lead with 14:24 to play in regulation.
