2000, start of “UNESCO/L’OREAL Awards” and the “UNESCO/L’OREAL Fellowships for Young Women in Life Sciences”.
(10 fellowships each year increased in 2003 to 15, extended in 2006 from 1 year each to two years, and money increased from US$ 20,000 to US$ 40,000)
5 Awards each year (money increased in 2003 from US$ 20,000 to US$ 100,000 for each winner).
