Balbir said that it has becomea daily routine of Congress lead-ers hailing from district Kathuato make statements just for polit-ical survival but in practical noneof them has something whichmay go into their credit. He saidthat the people cannot bebefooled any more in this era ofcommunication boom butCongress men are still havingsame misconception of gettingfavour of the voters, whichwould now remain a dream.

Written and directed byShashi Bhushan and per-formed under the banner ofSociety for Environment,Education and Modern Art, thedrama, a welcome addition inDogri comedy plays, revolvedaround one gullible housewifeMadhu, who is convinced byher crook servant Kalu that hermother-in-law is planning toremarry her husband as shehas failed to become motherafter seven years of marriage.The negative feedback fromher friends, neighbors, milk-man, TV crew etc., makesMadhu paranoid who thinksthat her mother-on-law wantsto kill her. The play ends withthe mother-law giving her lotsof presents and saying that sheloved Madhu as her own
daughter.The well-paced comedy
with a few fade-outs, came outto be an entertaining affair forthe audience who enjoyed theturns and twists of the plotwhich was enlivened by back-ground music and lightdesign.
Besides the noticeable per-formances by Usha Slathia asMadhu, Shashi Bhushan asMadhu's husband and DeepakSingh, the other members ofthe cast including the twochild actors also supported theproduction very well. RAMBAN, Mar 24:Regional Transport OfficerJammu, Dhanatar Singh todayinaugurated one day orientationcum awareness programme inthe premises of GovernmentHigher Secondary SchoolRamban. The programme wasorganized by the Motor VehicleDepartment (MVD), Ramban.
During the special aware-ness programme hundreds ofdrivers, conductors, transportersand students were made awareof traffic rules, basic principlesfor driving on roads.
They were educated on thevarious Traffic and MotorVehicle Rules and impressedupon them to abide by the rules
to face less stringent action.Addressing the gathering,
the RTO said that the driversand conductors are the part andparcel of our society. He soughtcooperation for spreading themessage of road safety andasked all SHOs and First ClassMagistrates to check the viola-tion of traffic rules and motorvehicles Act in their respectiveareas to control road accidents.
ARTO Ramban, MohammadSaleem and other speakersadvised the drivers and conduc-tor to avoid rash driving, overloading, over taking and wrongparking on the road.

Slathia calls for isolatingcommunal, divisive forces

SAMBA, Mar 24: NationalConference (NC), State secretaryand former Minister, SurjeetSingh Slathia today called forunited front against divisiveforces, saying unity in diversityhas been strong characteristic ofthe country and the State, whichis to be nurtured by foiling themachinations of elements inimi-cal to brotherhood and peace.
"We have to put in our best tosteer the State out of morass andlead it to peace, progress anddevelopment", Slathia said whileaddressing Sarpanches, Panches,Corporators and N C delegatesfrom the Vijaypur AssemblyConstituency here, this after-noon.
Slathia said Jammu andKashmir has passed through aturbulent phase during the pastfew years with the insensitivePDP-BJP coalition working atcross purposes and in the processignoring the legitimate aspira-tions of the people. He said theState suffered on all fronts andnow all eyes were upon N C tocorrect the wrongs committed bythe insensitive Government dur-ing the past three and half years.
While recalling the role of NC in political empowerment ofthe people and socio-economictransformation of Jammu andKashmir, Slathia dwelt at length
the initiatives taken in strength-ening democracy and forging thebonds of amity between varioussections of the people. He saidSheikh Mohammed Abdullahhad envisioned a strong, prosper-ous and secular State which isenshrined in his famous charterof Naya Jammu and Kashmir.

Dr Sharma mentioned thatduring 2014 election PM Modiwhile addressing an electionrally at Billawar had assuredpeople that if BJP comes topower their area will be givenspecial attention and many newindustries will be set up in thearea so that local youth can getjob opportunities but since BJPcame to power, not even a singlepoll promise has been fulfilledby BJP.

Jamwal today alleged that therecruiting agencies were prefer-ring lower educated over higherqualified candidates in selectionfor newly established fiveGovernment Medical Collegesin J&K.
While addressing a pressconference, here today, heexplained that the new ruleshave made Degree holders ineli-gible for over 1200 Technicaland Paramedical posts in newMedical Colleges. "While thoseinto recruitment have invitedDiploma holders in differentstreams, Degree holders are run-ning from pillar to post," headded.
"This needs to be probed asto why JK Service SelectionBoard (SSRB) is ignoring quali-fications and merit while recruit-ing Nursing, Paramedic and
Technical staff for these fiveupcoming Medical Colleges inthe State," he said.
Seeking to know the reasonbehind giving more weightageto 12th pass over those with
degrees and PG inspecialised sub-jects, PuneetSingh Jamwal saidthat such unfairrecruitment willjeopardise manymedical treat-ments and diagno-sis.

ter, he said posts of Technicianand Technical Assistant in vari-ous departments such asMedicine, Paediatrics, Anatomy,Biochemistry, Forensics andothers should be filled purely onmerit basis. Experts into thefield should get their due andthere should be no favouritismor relaxation in age or qualifica-tion in such sensitive andresponsible posts, he added.
Stating that SSRB wasgoing by conventional methodsof recruitment and using age oldcriteria, he said that need of thehour is to better qualified peoplewho have done advance coursesor possess better qualifications.
Puneet Singh Jamwal saidthat SSRB must change criteriabefore starting actual recruit-ment so that deserving candi-dates are not ignored and fairrecruitment is done.
