Undet for Revit User Manual
Overview
Undet for Autodesk® Revit® generates raster image views from point clouds directly in Revit. Raster images
are lighter than point clouds, which enables new workflow working with point clouds without loading heavy
RCP files.
Raster images generates from Undet project, which can be created with Undet Indexer from a wide range
of scanners or any others 3D sensors. No limitation and performance issue even the largest point clouds.
Main Undet for Revit functionality:
1. Interactive and independent raster image generation
A raster image generation region can be selected according to two choices and generated outside the Revit
view range, giving flexibility to control the level of information you see in your view:
- “Screen Area” by window extents
- or “Defined Area” by rectangle
2. Combine multiple image views
All generated raster images in a selected Revit view can be managed in the Raster manager to control
visibility of raster images, and combine multiple raster images
For example: the transparency center cut plane can be used with floor view, even with different settings.
3. Manage image resolution and density
Raster images can be generated with different resolution settings from preview to a very detailed view.
4. Update image colors
Raster image coloring mode can be selected: by source, intensity or coloring by plane: with different
settings to get the clearest view.
A previously generated image raster can be updated with new settings.
5. Scan position grouping
Raster images from point clouds are generated from enabled scan data that can be grouped and their
visibility managed.
For example, to create a clear building elevation raster image we need to disable inside scans.

Installation procedure
To install the Undet for Revit plug-in simply run the downloaded Undet_for_Revit.exe file and follow the
instructions.
Note: Some antivirus software may disturb the installation process. If installation was blocked by your
antivirus software, we recommend that you temporarily disable your antivirus software during the Undet
for Revit installation process.
For new Undet software users Undet Indexer (project creator) should also be installed. To install Undet
Indexer simply run the downloaded Undet_Indexer.exe file and follow the instructions.
Download Indexer: Undet_Indexer.exe

Note: Some antivirus software may disturb the installation process. If installation was blocked by your
antivirus software, we recommend that you temporarily disable your antivirus software during the Undet
Indexer installation process.
Note regarding installation:
Undet requires the latest Microsoft Framework, which is a heavy update, that might take some time to
install. But if your PC is up to date it should take just a couple minutes.
Undet for Revit User Manual
Activation procedure
After Undet for Revit installation by default, you will have a free trial for 7 days.
Undet for Revit license option:
Node-locked license (1 – month license)
USB Dongle license (Annual and perpetual licenses)
Network (floating) license (Annual and perpetual licenses)
Undet license can be bought from our website by clicking “Get Activation” in Undet for Revit License
Manager
http://www.undet.com/purchase-undet-for-revit/ - (link to order Undet license).
Undet for Revit User Manual
Node-locked license
Node-locked licenses are unique for each computer and are tied to the system hardware. If you are to
replace major system components you should not be able to activate software on the renewed system with
the same codes*
The Undet software Node-locked license type requires your system digital codes to be activated.
- Site code:
- MID:
Undet license manager can be opened in Undet ribbon menu by clicking “About”

Undet for Revit User Manual
Dongle license (Annual and perpetual licenses)
USB Dongle is hardware-based protection lock. The dongle contains license details for a particular version
of the Undet for Revit application. The dongle can be moved and used on different computers which have
Undet for Revit software installed.
The dongle license can be bought and integrated with annual and perpetual Undet for Revit licenses.
Network (floating) license (Annual and perpetual licenses)
Floating licensing is a software licensing approach in which a limited number of licenses for a software
application are shared among a larger number of users over time. The license server can manage licenses
over a local area network with a network dongle license.
An Undet for Revit license can’t be borrowed from a server for offline use.
The network dongle license can be bought separately and integrated with annual and perpetual Undet for
Revit licenses.
Undet for Revit User Manual
Undet project creator
Undet Indexer is standalone software to create Undet project files from a wide range of scanners: airborne,
mobile mapping, terrestrial or any other 3D sensors. Supported formats *.E57, *.FLS, *.ZFS,*.LAS, *.LAZ,
*.PTS, *.PTX, *.DP, *.FPR, *.LSPROJ, *.FWS, *.CL3, *.CLR, *.RSP, ASCII / NEZ (X,Y,Z/i/RGB).
Created Undet projects can be used with all Undet solutions:
|Undet4AutoCAD | Undet4Revit | Undet4Ares Commander | Undet4SketchUp |
Undet project type
Before importing scan data, first you must select the correct project type based on your scan data set:
• LiDAR data management and analysis (The most common choice for large airborne LiDAR projects)
• Topography, corridor mapping, 3D city modeling (The most common choice for infrastructure projects)
• Buildings, Infrastructure objects, plants (The most common choice for terrestrial scanners)
• Detailed scanned objects (The most common choice for small detailed objects such as: monuments, parts of buildings or areas with a footprint up to 100m2)
Note regarding Undet project creation:
Selecting the right project type speeds up the indexing process, without losing full point cloud points and affects only the preview view.

Undet for Revit User Manual
Raster image resolution examples
Raster images can be generated with different resolution settings. Resolution selection is a tradeoff
between speed and a clear view. To understand objects, we recommend using a 20mm resolution, a
more detailed resolution should chosen according to object size and needs.
1 mm 5 mm 10 mm 20 mm
20 mm 10 mm
5 mm 1 mm

Undet for Revit User Manual
View direction settings example
Raster images can be generated according to Revit cut plane location and direction:
In floor plan view raster images can be generated by choosing: Center view (cut plane line), Floor view or
Ceiling view.
In section or elevation raster images can be generated by choosing: Center view (cut plane line), Forward
view or Backward view.
Undet for Revit User Manual
Generated raster images from decimated point clouds examples
Generated raster images from decimated point clouds are mostly suitable for preview:
Raster image (5mm resolution) with enabled “Decimate” function |Low density|
Raster image (5mm resolution) with enabled “Decimate” function |Maximum density|
Raster image (5mm resolution) with disabled “Decimate” function generated from all points
Undet for Revit User Manual
Raster images transparency function examples
Raster images created with the transparency option are much heavier and require more time to zoom in /
out, we recommend to use this option only when needed in specific situations.
Floor plan raster image
Center Cut Plane raster image
Floor plan raster image combined with center Cut Plane raster image. Cut plane raster updated with “Transparent” option
Undet for Revit User Manual
Raster image example with enabled calculate distance function
The “Calculate distance” function generates a raster image from the first visible points according to view
direction and location. This function is a tradeoff between speed and a clear view. To generate such raster
images takes more time than standard raster images.
For example, to get a clear view of a table we need to create a raster from the first visible points and
eliminate points under table.
Raster image created without “Calculate distances” option
Raster image created with “Calculate distances” option
