EPEAT is a more comprehensive measure of reduced environmental impact than ENERGY STAR. EPEATs environmental criteria cover the complete product lifecycle. Reduce more than 1.6 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions Over their lifecycle, the EPEAT-registered products sold in 2010 will: Reduce use of primary materials by 15.7 million metric tons Eliminate use of enough mercury to fill 437,048 household fever thermometers Avoid the disposal of 59,525 metric tons of hazardous waste Save more than 9 billion kilowatt hours of electricity
